1. Leave your politics back home at the People's Republik - It irks us when people move from New Jersey to Pennsylvania, only to try to vote for the same baloney that they left behind in Jersey.
We have the same thing happening in Nevada. People from our western neighbor move here and then try to replicate California laws. One question. Why???

Thank goodness I live in the best kept secret in the USA....West Virginia. Gun friendly, rural and lots of people don't want to come here to live....suits us just fine!

You can guess by my tag I'm happy to be in Pennsylvania where "America Starts Here" (billboards erected several years ago along the NJ/PA border by then govenor Tom Ridge!). Much better here.

CT used to be a really good firearms state, but in the early '90s it started to follow states like NJ, MA and CA by enacting an AWB (ironically putting several guns that were manufactured in the state on the "banned" list), and making it tougher on local gun stores and owners.

The lawmakers in Trenton think the citizens are too stupid to work a gas pump.)

It was the Gas Station Retailers Assoc. that fought the changes. A recent survey found the vast majority of residents did not want self service instituted.

WHEN THE SUBJECT WAS BROUGHT UP A FEW YEARS BACK....

In the days following Corzine's suggestion, his office was flooded with 1,400 e-mails and phone calls -- the biggest and fastest response to an issue the governor has received since taking office in January. Nearly all were in opposition.

Sensing a political disaster, Corzine backed off less than a week after he floated the idea of testing self-service along the New Jersey Turnpike. New Jersey, together with Oregon, will remain the last two full-service states in the country.

Getting fuel at a service station, read service station as in...Service was always nice, and in some states mandatory...

Those who want to pump own gas might be offended, like states where civilization has happened with no smoking in places where others have to breath second hand smoke...Some will never understand

It seems to be a situation of, my right to do it if I want, even though the majority has voted on it (democracy) and one needs to follow the law:what:

Going back to rights and 2nd A...Confusing for many:D

Move

Congrats on your move to PA. Lived in MD all my life. Now retired and have moved to Western North Carolina. Been here over a year now and have never looked back. Miss my close friends but they know where I live. NC is a shall issue state as opposed to MD "may issue". Yea right :banghead:. I have my CCW permit:). Some will say that NC has strick restrictions but it is worlds apart from states like MD,NJ,NY,MA. Good luck on your move.....................Joe

I lived in Pa and moved to Jersey in 82 when I was young and stupid. Now that I am a little older and wiser I am finally moving out. Waiting for my wife to finish school and will be moving to New Mexico at the end of the year. PR-NJ writes that he is moving 8 miles away, well being in this god awful state for 30 years 8 miles is not be enough for me. When I move I wont even want to look at Jersey on a map. Good luck to you but at 8 miles away I'm affraid that being that close you will get sucked back to hell.

My son's company wants him to move from Utah to New Jersey to take a new position. I told him he needs to think it over VERY HARD because he will be missing alot of things. He has several guns that he will have to get rid of, or bring them to me, he will have higher cost of living, not so much freedom on his motorcycle because of the traffic in NJ. I cannot see an upside to living there.

As a side note, I once moved to Maryland for a short period of time. I was never so happy to get the heck out of there and get back to my beloved homeland!
Your son could live in PA and work in NJ. A lot of folks do. Heck, my office is in NYC and I will be passing through NJ every day to and from work.

Congratulations, and welcome to the United States!

Just a few words of advice to help you get along with the natives:

1. Leave your politics back home at the People's Republik - It irks us when people move from New Jersey to Pennsylvania, only to try to vote for the same baloney that they left behind in Jersey.

2. Learn how to drive! Unlike in New Jersey, it is not considered proper form to change lanes 8 times just to pass one car, or to pass a car just prior to slamming on your brakes to make a turn.

Just kidding! Welcome to Pennsylvania!
Another reason I'm moving to PA - my political views are more in line with those of the good citizens of PA (Philadelphia and Pittsburgh excepted). I'll have to work on the driving, though.

aren't hollowpoints illegal in jersey (along with most everything else lol)?

As I understand it, you're not supposed to have them loaded in a firearm.
Simple possession is not a crime, it appears to be an "enhancer" - in other words, if someone knocks over a convenience store with a revolver full of hollow points, it's automatic time added to a sentence for the actual criminal incident.

Congrats on getting out. I went from NYS to NJ and lived there for 5 years. Hated it the whole time. Not that it wasn't tolerable and I had a good job, but the politics and aweful gun laws made me realize it wasn't for me. So I moved back to NYS. OK not the must gun friendly state, but so much more friendly than NJ. Now I work maybe 10 miles from PA, and it is tempting.....

Congratulations on the move, enjoy your new home.

Your decision to leave the state made me remember to make a donation to the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs litigation fund.

I encourage all members of THR to donate to the ANJRPC, or just send them a message of encouragement. There are still many of us here, fighting the good fight, and always happy to get some support from our fellows in other states.

OP: congrats. NJ is unfixable imo.

People telling others to "leave their politics in the state they left" are SSOOOOO out of line. wow. First, pro gunners leaving a socialist hell hole deserve a presumption that they desire to vote for liberty, instead of a condescending lecture to leave their politics in the state they left. After ALL, they are taking physical action to restore their 2nd amendment rights. Yes, I also see california residents coming to my state and bringing their socialistic, entitlement mentality, yuppie, politically correct, illegal aliens are victims, worship the earth, homosexuality is wonderful, worship animals, worship the "environment," government funded "art," global warming sky is falling, government employees should have massive unions and jobs for life crap, but I would never give out a blanket statement to people leaving an anti gun state for a freer one, that they should leave their politics there. I'm going to assume that if they treasure the 2nd amendment enough to leave a hell hole for a freer state, that there's more GOOD in their brain than bad.

Second, once someone becomes a legal citizen of a state, they can have whatever politics they want. Pardon my bluntness, but I don't like political intimidation tactics because I have endured a lot of political persecution because I'm not a government worshiper, which many members of the usually pro gun party have become. Saying "welcome to our state but you have no right to be politically active unless you agree with me" is the HEIGHT of hypocrisy and just as bad as the attitude of anti gun politicians. I think the most imperative thing pro gunners need to do, in order to save the 2nd amendment is end the "drug war" asap, but saying this can invite a firestorm of persecution. I've had to deal with a lot of attacks from people who SHOULD have been my friends and fellow supporters of liberty, just because they had an attitude of "leave your politics wherever because it's different from what the media spoon feeds me."

I run into a lot of people who try one method or another to shut down debate, and shut off alternate points of view (calling everything they disagree with "extreme" is a classic), so saying "leave your politics in NJ" before you know something about someone's politics, is really out of line.
