Goody Guns... or "Wow, JPFO is out there this time..."

A little theater of the absurd, performed by those with serious intent, isn't the worst thing for a cause. The JPFO is very hard core RKBA, but at least they are having some fun.

I'm the last one to suggest that we should hide or try to downplay our interests in firearms, but there ARE actions that ultimately do more harm than good. Just wait until the latest gun control group picks up on it, because I guarantee they'll use it as an example of how we're all right-wing paranoid extremists trying to brainwash children.

Compared to Larry Pratt's rantings about Muslims, or any number of stupid t-shirts you can pick up at a gun show, this is harmless. Even if you don't compare it to those, I don't see a problem.

I might order one. I know my family would get a kick out of Christmas sugar cookies shaped vaguely like a Glock

I don't see the problem, not exactly something I'd buy as I just want to eat the damn cookie, but I think most people are overexaggerating here.

Visa and Master Card spend Bagillions of $$$ every year to brand toys to train kids early that “going into debt is normal, and you want to be normal. Right?” Madison Av. understands that if you give them kiddos an innocuous object early that they are desensitized to the its related real world object later in life.

You can do that to adults to. Give them something that “looks” like a phobia and let them get comfortable with it then they are one step closer to conquering their fear.

So the only reason antis will flip is that they know this is a way to get a prybar into the phobia of guns in some people. Heck, the only reason antis flip out about anything is that they know small victories move the line. That’s how we got here today.

Stop worrying about what, “the antis will do when they get hold of this.” We can’t be afraid of or own shadows. Rule #1: The antis will HATE anything gun related in the hands of the people. Period. Full stop.

Besides… Yeah… I want a grilled cheese Glock.

I think that I would be hilarious if these things were given to the caterers, who prepared food for the GCN functions and the central governments own catering staff.

A .45 club or a Beretta cake,complete with icing 9mm and .45 shells.:evil::p:p

They already say that every time they think someone can hear them. They say that about the Eddie The Eagle program, fercryinoutloud. This won't make them any more credible.

I put these in my preschooler's lunch sometimes. I tell him to bite their heads off first like he were a T-Rex- safety first you know.:D

BTW, a month or so ago, he got a 'naughty note' from one of his teachers for making a 'finger gun' on the playground. When I got home from work I heard my wife lecturing him about it. He replied that he was just playing and that it wasn't a real gun. The wife then told him that it wasn't nice to make finger guns and can be dangerous. His reply to that one was "but mom, you can't kill anything by pointing your finger." Sometimes the logic of a 4 year old trumps that of so-called 'educated adults." :)

First off you can not assume that just because the JPFO was direct linked to this it was not meant to be taken in a humorous context. I can see how one might jump to that conclusion though, seeing how hardcore JPFO is about RTKBA. So far they have not sold out some gun owners for others, the NRA does that, they also have not spent dues on a fight against DOG SPAYING AND NUETERING as the NRA did whilst there were so many other more important fights going on. In my book those fellas are a lot more on track than the biggest organization of FUDS we have in our country.

In what way is the 'gun culture' not stronger today than ever before?

There may be restrictions that didn't exist once upon a time: the pre-86 years for full auto and such - but shooting as a hobby/sport/self-defense or martial art is bigger today than in the past.

We have no national 'assault weapon' ban.
EBRs are far more popular than ever.
Every major gun manufacturer is in good financial health and generally putting out a good product.
The 'party of gun control' has loudly backed away from the issue as a rallying cry, realizing it costs them votes and that a not-insignificant of their regular supporters own guns.

It's hard for me to gauge the strength of something which I wasn't around to witness and simply seems to have been either a non-issue (i.e. part of the culture), or otherwise taken for granted.

It's the "man on the street" problem that seems to be the problem. The majority of folks (the ones passing the laws) that are at best apathetic about firearms, or more likely, ignorantly hostile by way of supporting "stronger gun laws".

I've had the pleasure of introducing three people to firearms thus far; all showed mild interest during the 'safety and function' crash-course, but once out on the range and right after they take the first shot and realize the hole appeared where they were aiming, you can almost see the change in attitude take place: guns are no longer bad or uninteresting: firearms are powerful tools that can be a lot of fun, too!

I don't see how a cookie-cutter can prompt such a change in opinion, but if it prompts folks to ask about guns and find a friend to teach them and treat them to a range visit, I'm all for it.

I ordered both the Glock and the Revolver cookie cutters, I'm planning on making
Glocklate Chip and Peanut Butter Magnum cookies for the Christmas party at work!

My step mom told me that her son, used to bite his sandwiches into a gun shape.
Some kids will think it's cool, some kids will not care what the shape is as long as it's sweet. This is just one of JPFO's many ways to have some fun and even stir things up with out being too bold or too serious.
Take a look at their Brasco the Liberty Bear greeting cards and You'll see what I mean.

I'm just disappointed that it's ONLY two basic guns, why not a sword and shield set for Hanukkah?!
