Govt. issued Taurus Mod.82

Back in November I got in the new SOG flyer and on the back page they had some Taurus model 82 revolvers in 38 SPL. listed. The ad said that they were used by a foreign government and equipped with a lanyard ring.
Well. I have been wanting to add another wheel gun so I ordered one. When I called I asked where did the revolvers come from and the nice lady advised that she did not know.
Well it came in the day before Thanksgiven, got the call while at the police pistol range training. So I had to wait till Black Friday to pick it up.
I am very happy with the revolver I got.












I wasn't able to get to the range until mid December.
The Taurus shot great.

I had one that I bought NIB years ago, minus the lanyard ring, that was a pretty good gun. I shot the snot out of it for a couple, three years before selling it to raise money for something else. With reloaded wadcutters it shot well, and was a lot of fun.

My only gripe with it was the grips, which looked like they had been carved from a 2x4, then checkered with a hatchet. Nowhere near as nice as the one you've pictured.

If you look around long enough, you can still find a S&W Model 10 for about $200...
In fact, I found a Model 15 Combat Masterpiece for $175 two years ago....

This one cost my $186. That covered cost, shipping and transfer fee.
S&W Mod 10s for $200?? Around here they go for $300 and up.

I was in the Dominican Republic a year and a half ago and saw quite a few strange things....our neighborhood daytime police officer had a 39 smith with no blue left which he had to turn over to the second shift cop, then second to third and then he'd get it back in the a.m.
Saw military guys with Vietnam era M16s and Taurus 38s. Rossi guns on a few.

South America is a BIG market for Taurus firearms.
The guns likely came from there.
