Got myself a nice used GP-100 a short while ago. I've got some super help from the guys over at the Ruger forum. Iowegans IBOK was a great help in changing out the factory springs with Wolff springs and going through the internals. It now has a really good smooth trigger pull in double and single action. I shot it last weekend before I worked on it and found it easy to shoot well and very accurate. The grips fit me real well and absorb recoil well, but I would like to find some nice wood grips for it. I wll be shooting 99% downloaded .357 mag brass through it. It has a Millet front sight which is real nice. Much better than the factory sight.

I'm just kidding. Actually contemplating getting one of these. I have a friend with a 6" and another with a 3", but I'm not sure which one I want. It won't carry as well as my 642, but there are other purposes I have in mind that the gp will fill nicely.

Hey I own a gorgeous 681PC.

As for the GP100 I am all about the 3inch. Perfect balance, the perfect grips, looks just right to me. I love my 3inch, but I have a soft spot for 3 inch full size revolvers with fixed sights.

Walkalong, that is one sweet GP100, and the left grip panel is exceptionally beautiful! My favorite individual sixgun is a 4" GP100 with adjustable sights, though my 4" with fixed sights gets more carry time.

I had a 4" Smith & Wesson 686, a 4" Ruger GP100, and 6" GP100. I sold all three to fund other purchases.

Out of those three, I wish I haven't of sold the 4" GP100. The 4" GP100 is about as nice as it gets when you want an all purpose wheelgun regardless of brand.

It's just a damn good .357 Magnum revolver. 'nuff said.

It's a stock SS 4" GP100, with Hogue kingwood grips. I am fortunate enough to live only an hour from the Hogue factory, so I drove down there and they let me try out several on the gun. Glad I did, too. I was ready to order a checkered model, but once I had it in hand I realized the smooth model felt much better.

Walkalong - sweet acquisition... I love that front sight. You just can't beat the GP100. We really need a GP100 club...

how do you guys get the discharge marks off the cylinder? i get them like somewhat off but there is still remnints of it still there, were those guns ever shot or do you have a secret way to keep them so clean?

Carbon Killer from Slip 2000 works well.

I use a Pro-Shot lead cleaning cloth after the usual cleaning. Takes lots and lots of elbow grease, but if you stay on top of it, it's not so bad.

BTW Walkalong, thanks for that link. Never used their cleaning products, but that Brush Buddy is exactly what I've been looking for.

Personally, I prefer the standard GP100 grips. However, I did buy some rather exotic looking grip PANELS to replace the standard ones. Somehow I lost my link to the seller of these panels, but I'm sure you can find him on the Ruger forum - he posts there quite often as to availability. This is a good, lower cost alternative to full wood grips.
