GrabAgun glitch? Legit?

Sales tax that reduces the price of goods? I wanna move to that state. :D

It's an error that goes both ways.

Basically, if you browse the guns, the site pulls up a bunch of thumbnails with pics, name of the gun, a price, and a link to a page on just the gun, and a button to add the gun to the cart.

If you add to cart, or view the full page, the price is different on most listings, either a bit lower or a bit higher.

So, whatever is calling up the search results display is grabbing the price field from the wrong place.

It should be simple to just remove the price field from that first page. If not, then the least they could do is put a notice at the top of the page, below the image rotator.

I had an experience a month or so ago where I kept adding Meprolight night sights to my cart, only to have it refuse the card I was using; did it a couple times, then checked the balance (it was a pre-paid gift card) and it showed plenty of $ to make the purchase.

After a couple tries I gave up, and went to purchase it elsewhere; there I found that they'd placed a 'hold' on the card, even though the transaction didn't complete. When I made them aware of the issue, and asked them to remove the hold, they essentially told me to pound sand.

I only buy 10 or so guns a year, but I can guarantee you none of them will ever be from Grab-A-Gun.

FWIW, the grabagun.com site still lists a price of $778.83 for the Series 70 in the search results and category listings, but when added to the cart, the pistols price is now $868.94, up from $821.88. Two weeks later, and they still have not fixed their commerce site, and the price gap grows ...

Anyone have a line on Series 70s? I got distracted and picked up an XSE Commander last week instead of my initial target of a Series 70.

To conclude this saga - I tried to order a Series 70 one last time from these guys. Found it in the product listing (one price), went to the item page (a second different price), added it to the cart (a third different price), and then went to checkout (a fourth different price). Each time the price got higher and higher, and this is all within a 2-3 minute span.

I emailed their customer service again, who again apologized "for the incorrect price issues. It is a system error and our IT team is working on fixing this problem. The actual price for the item is going to be what it displays when in the checkout screen." (if you recall, earlier in the thread they said the actual price would be the one in the cart, now its the checkout screen - its been at least a month of "system errors").

I ended up going with a Series 70 from one of their competitors (Impact), at an extremely good price. Ordered on Monday evening, shipped yesterday, package tracking says it should be arriving today. Unfortunately the Impact price jumped up $40+ since I ordered. (Plus, my local FFL just dropped his transfer fee by $10. Sometimes, things just work out :) )

Grabagun is operating under a misconception, as far as I understand things.

(Someone with more legal savvy, please feel free to correct me.)

If an item is ADVERTISED at one price, then the business is obligated to SELL at that price to anybody who wants to buy it at that time unless they choose NOT to sell it at all. They can change the price with proper notification under the uniform commercial code.

Since the business has been notified of this problem on more than one occasion and the issue still persists, then this MIGHT come under "bait and switch" tactics.

Since Grabagun is also a brick and mortor store, from what I see, if you are local one option would be to print out the page with the associated price, take it to the store, and conduct business there with that page as proof of their advertised price. If they sell, then they have to sell at their advertised price.

Another avenue MIGHT be to conduct business over the phone or by email. Some people choose to conduct business over the phone because they do not wish to put credit card information onto the internet. Some business will do business this way. If so, then you can also corner them into the advertised price.

And finally, you can attempt to press the issue through customer service the same way.

THAT SAID...you have to ask yourself what the cost of all this is to YOU. (Or whomever else may wish to deal with them.) It takes time and some amount of aggravation to wade through all this.

Frankly, I like the fact that you simply took your business to someone else. Personally, I'd also take the time to call Grabagun's customer service number and ask to speak to the owner/manager. Then explain to them exactly how this unresolved problem cost them the loss of an otherwise guaranteed sale of X amount of dollars (you were literally a click away from confirming the sale when you found the price discrepancy) and that it is also costing them additional losses that you know of from others also unsatisfied with their website "bug".

But that's me.

:)

buy the gun somewhere else

email grabagun a screenshot of your order at their competitor
