There was a gun auction in Marshall today... When I went to look yesterday (Friday preview) there were a few things I thought that if the price were right I might be interested.

So today when I went, and saw the parking lot, I just kept on driving.... Good news is they had record attendance, there had to have been a minimum of 250 cars in the parking lot, and that meant at least 3-500+ people inside, which in turn meant every thing would be bid up to what I could just buy it for at the next gun show...

So has anyone else noticed the huge upswing in gun sales? I know we all have felt the ammo crunch due in a huge part I believe to higher than normal ammo sales and hoarding, but how about the guns? Some models are hard to get at the gun shops, so one thing for sure, the Democrats have inspired gun and ammo sales to new records....

Haha have you been paying attention at all since November? Gun sales are through the roof nationally. S&W's stock is up like 80% since November.

Just so happens that the Old Fuff was following that auction on the Internet. Some of the realized prices were unbelivable, and many of them involved on-site buyers. If an economic depression has struck southern/lower Michigan there was no evidence of it.

I saw a Remington wall-hanger go for $250, while what might have been a genuine J. Hawkin flintlock-to-percussion only fetched $350. :what:

A H&R .38 hammerless top-break from (probably) the 1930's brought $225! A similar Smith & Wesson with peeling nickel plate sold for $110.

Incidentally Internet buyers had to pay an additional 18% above their winning bid to the auction house, and then had to pay more to get their winnings shipped.

If anyone wants to see the results that Sheldon J mentioned in the opening post, go here.

It appears that many guns really didnt go for that much which in my own opinion speaks for MIs economic disparity.

GunBroker could have brought higher prices on most of that stuff from what I can tell. Feel free to refute though.

I sure do wish that I was there with a handful of cash. I saw about a dozen firearms that I would've loved to bought for the price they were sold at.

Appears there were a few good buys but its hard to tell on the computer pictures.

If things are still working you can click on the thumbnail and a bigger image will come up. Expand the screen to full size, and the the top of the picture you just called up you will see a banner, "full size picture." Click on that to get a still bigger picture.

Click the "X" in the upper/right corner and the screen will close and you will be back where you were.

I have gotten great and unbelievably good prices on guns and ammo for a good two months now. I have gotten rifles at more than half price and ammo cheaper than I have ever gotten it.

Heck, AR-15's at Scheel's have only gone up about $75.00

The only things I have really noticed going up are millitary ammo and millitary type guns, but that has been going on for years.

I bought a Winchester 9422 (dates 1976) for $281.30 its worth $500.00-$600.00

I had a Ruger hand gun and traded it for a rifle that is worth twice what the pistol was worth. I have also bought two other rifles that I bought for $100.00 less than what they should have sold at.

I do know that ammo has gone up over all, but if you take your time there is alot of ammo everywhere. Just take your time and don't buy the first thing you see.

Gun shows have very few gems at them anyways, everyone knows it has been like this forever. They just have a few more sales pitches now.

I could type all night about this, but will leave it at this.

I have indeed been watching

Last fall the Kalamazoo gun show I went to was almost dead, however the same show a few weeks back was very busy.
Which brings me to the ammo shortages, all those new people buying guns, then they stock up on ammo...
Past auctions with this group have been active but Saturdays was off the hook in attendance, and I was not the only one that just drove by and kept on going....
