i just saw another post for or about gun buy backs. i just had a different idea about these. what it a small group of individules got together, and set one of these up. pooled their recources and bought up as many firearms from individules as they could afford. it would be a way to get these firearms out of the hands of people who do not want them, and get them into the hands of people who do. i understand there would be some guns that were basicly scrap iron, and some that were actually hot (stolen). so if it was arranged with the athourities prior to the buyback and agreed that any stolen firearms would be turned over, do you think this would work? could it be made to happen. seams like a win-win situation. guns for people who want them, cash for those who dont, and stolen guns back to their owners. maybe donate the scrap firearms to a gunsmithing school?

Good idea, however, maybe its just because the local police aren't exactly pro gun, but I don't see a police department agreeing to this.

I wonder, maybe if you have Goering's Luger and you never bother to let anyone know it's value, you assume responsibility for it's possible smelting after your demise. Should gov't interfere in business - no. But try to stop them, and like their WOD that acts as a price subsidy to dealers and smugglers, gov't buying and destroying old guns is wrong in many ways. But pragmatically, strategically, it's a tactical error on their part, as they open lanes for new manufacturers, which are more influential in current society.

So if you have a collector's item, make provisions for it, or plan for it to be ruined. If you had an 'early work' of some artist that didn't look special, and you never told anyone what it was, what do you expect to happen to it after you die.

And if you want to win the WOT(yranny) in the present, it might be best to capitalize on the tactical error of the enemy and let them subsidize the industry they are trying to destroy.

I personally like the people who post in 'buyback' threads about bringing in completely valueless junk that is only loosely technically classifiable as a gun, to the buybacks. It's the best of both worlds. One wonders if zip-guns count...:)

sounds like a good idea to me. It may need to be done by a gun shop to be leagl. May or may not be worth it for them if they get too many junk or stolen guns

The "market" in gun buy back programs is people who have guns in their house and want them to disappear -- NOT get into someone else's hands.

Gun transfer, even between private individuals, is a federally controlled transaction. Basically you'd be setting up a "gun show" -- and you know for sure the govt. is going to have a look at that one.
