Looking for OEM type grips for a M28-2 that I pick up on Saturady, the typical large wooden target style grips. Got some old magna type grips that came with my 38/44 Outdoorsman but those are just too tiny for my mitts. Gotta track down some soon as I know those squishy Hogue rubber grips that are currently on the 28-2 are gonna drive me nuts.

Looking to have the same grips among all my N-frames for purposes of near identical handling until I can afford to change them out at a later date for something more comfortable.

Tried S&W, everything they have in inventory is round butt and that don't help much. Most other places I've checked have some goofy finger groove grips.

generic S&W OEM target (non-diamond) grips are cheap on E-bay.

i'm not really aware of any aftermarket nice wood that resembles the fit.

try pickagrip.com ?

also the ubiquitous junk box at the gun shop or gun show...

Check or post on the S&W forum in the classified section. All sorts or S&W grips float thru there all the time.

True "Coke Bottle" stocks were only used in the 50's and very early 60's on a few revolvers by S&W. They bring premium prices when you find them. Not all target stocks are "Coke Bottles".

Interesting...

Where does the difference in the grip design lay compared to the run of the mill target stocks?

The "Coke Bottles" were named so because they had somewhat of a coke bottle appearance to them. By today's definition I guess you could say it has somewhat of a palm swell to it.

Yeah, I saw those while I was looking around the other day....

Hard to swallow 90 dollars per grip when I'm considering replacing the grips on 2-3 of my revolvers. They are sorta low down on the list. The 50-70 dollar range, I can get over after awhile. Better yet, if I can find them for something closer to 30-50 dollars that would be fantastic.

I'm gonna see if a friend of mine might be interested in taking on a little wood working project and see if he wants to try making a set of grips. I can do alright with wood working but I haven't got squat in the way of decent tools, my friend however has access to a pretty nice facility with a nice spread of equipment available for his use.
