I could use some help, or rather my friend could use some help, he recently purchased a AR with a 7.62x39 upper and we cant for the life of us find any magazines that really work for it, yes normal AR15 .223 mags work for about 4-6 rounds but this really isnt ideal for a rifle, and we just cant seem to find anywhere that has magazines that are made for the 7.62x39 rounds, does anyone else have this problem and if so what is the solution or is there magazines out there that are designed to work. Any help would be much appreciated. :) :) :) :)

Should've bought an AK.

Before I bought my AK I wanted an AR in 7.62x39 but couldn't find any 30rd mags that were even barely reliable. Everybody was saying all high capacity mags for the 7.62 AR15 were complete crap except for the 10rd mags they came with. I figured then why bother with it since even the most common accessory for it, magazines, were either not reliable or just were not found anywhere.

I believe there's also no standardization between companies so not all mags will work. What brand did your friend buy?

The Colt 7.62x39 my Dad had came with two regular (straight) 20rd mags with Colt 7.62x39 stamped on the floorplate. I think they held 9 or 10 rounds and had the exact same black plastic follower and feed lips as the Colt 5.56x45 mags. I still use some for in my 5.56 Stag today. I only tried to use a crappy steel Pro-Mag 30rd once and it jammed every other round. I'd give it to you but it went right in the trash where it belonged.

he had a wasr and had HORRIBLE problems with cant, he even sent it into century and they "fixed" so he upgraded to the ar, and how is having the mag problems

MGW makes good 10rd mags. C-Products is trying to complete the redesign of their hi-caps, but I don't think they're done yet.
