I was looking at the newest issue of either Field & Stream OR Outdoor Life (sorry, it's my brother's mag) recently. I saw in one of the features sections a list of new guns. One was a 45-70 Marlin. It looked like an awesome little rifle. It had a full tubular magazine, like on a 336, but it was chambered for the 45-70. It had a funny looking lever on it, not standard shaped, but not as exaggerated as on some cowboy rifles. The stocks looked like wood laminate.

It was a way cool looking rifle and I want to buy one. I have not been able to find ANYTHING online, including Marlin's own website and this site.

Anyone have any ideas?? It must be new for 2009.

Thanks for the responses. But none of those are right, at least not the photos.

This gun had a full tubular mag that extended the full length of the barrel. It had an oddly curvaceous lever on it. I don't remember if it was straight or Monte Carlo, but I think it was straight.

It might have been the 16" barrel gun. I wouldn't think it was quite that short, but it might have been. I would need to see pics of it. My guess is that it is new for 2009 and no one knows anything yet.

Like this? But maybe with a laminate stock?

Go to www.wildwestguns.com I think you will see the lever you are describing there. They sell them as an aftermarket lever or will customize your Marlin. I seem to remember reading that Marlin was going to make a limited run of rifles using that lever and some other special features. But I could be wrong. It could have been a pictire of one of Wild West's custom guns.

Cabelas also sells the levers for $149.

phlip,

That is the same idea, and the closest of all of them. But that is not the exact firearm.

This was a blued gun, did not have the tactical rail, and had a slightly different lever loop.

The gun was not featured in Petzal's column (or article).

However, I might like this one even more! Thanks.
