Alright I've been using my friends cleaning stuff for to long. It's time I broke down and spent the little bit of money and got my own.

I think I just want to piece my own together that way I do not end up with extra stuff.

Guns I need cleaning stuff for.

PA-63 (9x18 mak)
M44 (7.62x54r)
SKS (7.62x39)
Glenfield Model 60 (.22lr)

If I am up on my stuff here I should need a .35 brush, a .30 brush, and a .22 brush correct?

Before we get started I am curious to see if jags work better than the other thing with the slit in it (I have no idea what its called)?

Off the top of my head I am guessing a need a handle and some rod, patches, jags or the other thing depending which is better, gun oil, solvent, brushes.

Is there any thing I am forgetting?

As far as the solvent was concerned I was going to use this

Guess its ok to keep in a gas can (not sure if he used plastic or metal though).

Ok I confirmed that the 7.62 is a .30 cal. I still want some one to confirm a normal 9mm brush will be ok for the 9x18 mak.

I also still need to know if its better to go with jags or a patch puller?

Just a few nuggets I have found over the years.

I prefer tight fitting jags with pillow ticking patches.

I have found that I like using a .17 caliber rod for cleaning my .22s

Don't use stainless brushes.

Clean from the breech when ever possible.

Ed's Red is the best damn bore cleaner and only costs 15 bucks a gallon to make.

Your 9mm brush will be perfect for your Mak but is too big for a 7.62mm bore.

Bore snakes are also a good idea and I second the Ed's Red.

I also would get a bottle of Breakfree CLP, q-tips, set of dental picks, and a small bottle of hoppe's #9 (for an air freshener :D ) You also may want to keep a small bottle of Windex handy - I use mine at the range after I've shot the 7.62x54R - Helps to get the corrosive salts out and will evaporate quickly if you use it while the barrel is still hot.

Ok good to hear. I will pick up the .30 cal brush, the 9mm brush, a .22 brush, a jag for each size, a handle/rods for the .17, a normal size handle/rods for the riffles and hand gun, and some patches.

I will see if they have the pillow ticking ones. If not any particular other brand i should look for?

I plan to keep some type of window cleaner with ammonia in it with me once I get shooting corrosive stuff.

This is just personal preference, but I stay away from the double knit style of patch, I like the tight firm fit of a thick single weave cotton. Pillow ticking patches can be found with the muzzle loading supplies, or at any fabric store. You may find you don't like them, so I would get a small amount of both types of patch to begin with, then buy what you prefer in bulk.
