So, I bought a hi-point .45 ACP yesterday and was looking around at extra mags. I saw some that were 9 shot capacity and had a grip extension like mine. I also found some that held 5 cartridges but lacked the grip extension. Now, I was wondering if I could use these 5 round makes in my full size .45ACP with no ill effects.

Anyone know?

I don't know, but to add a question to yours, I've got a hi-point C9 9mm, and I was wondering if anyone knew if there were better mags for this gun than the factory mags?
thanks

M.E.Eldridge,

the 9rd mags are for the newer hi point 45's, and the 5rds mags are for the older ones.

As far as I know, Hi Point is the only one who makes mags for their pistols.

That's a shame, too, since I think most of the problems with Hi-Point guns are with the magazines.

My .45 has been fine, but others will blame the poor performance of the gun on the gun itself, or the slide, or bad materials for it jamming when it's just the magzine that needs tweaked.

OK, thanks. I was just kind a curious. My .45 did great at the range, 150 rounds of ammo and not one malfunction of any sort. I got about 1.5" groupings at 40 feet, which is pretty good for me(I'm a lousy shot with handguns).

hi point mags

looks like a average person could go to lowes and buy a piece of sheet metal and cut and bend and buy a spring there and make a better mag than hi points come with.seen better quality come out of shop 101 in high school

yep..after playing with mine for a few days,It's clear the mag is definitely low-quality..you get what you pay for, so I'm not gonna complain. The gun itself is of better quality than people say, IMHO.
