Another way you can do it is field strip the CM9, put the barrel in the frame, with the barrel pin / slide stop pin installed and insert a magazine. If the barrel moves you know the mag is making contact with the barrel.
I've never had a single problem with the PM9/CM9 6-round flush magazines with the stamped steel baseplate. They are made well and work.
The 7-rounders with the plastic baseplates are a different story entirely. One incident of the flimsy baseplate breaking and spilling 9mm rounds all over the firing line was enough to convince me that they should never be used in a self-defense role.
Just stick to the 6-rounders in 9mm Kahrs. They are solid. As a side note, my CM9 has been perfectly reliable through a few thousand rounds at this point.
Hello people
Have K9 w/6 mags
Have PM9 w/5 mags
Had CW9 w/3 mags
PM 9 broke a follower so I fixed that with dremel.
And sandpaper and time by removing material from feed ramp.
Haven't had any mag problems.
Or any type of jam.
A guy now makes metal followers over on kahr talk but I don't seem to need them.
The K9 seems to be the best bet in a kahr.
That's my experience.
regards
I guess you either love or hate Kahrs I had a CW9, functioned perfect unless you tried to slingshot a round in the chamber, or you wanted last round hold open. Only had one pocket mag dump, and did have follower loose the steel button... Great gun, crap magazines!
It does seem to be a polarizing subject but I'm really not at either extreme. I like my CM9, I have one magazine that works fine and one magazine with a loose base plate but I'm not crazy bent out of shape over it.
My CM9 did knock out pieces of the followers but it didn't affect function of either the gun or the magazine. Another way Kahr could have fixed the problem would just be to create a cutout in the follower where the feed ramp was- eliminating the impact. Some people on KahrTalk did just that with a Dremel. I sent mine in free of charge, Kahr shortened the feed ramp a bit and I haven't had any broken followers since.
I'm happy with the little gun, I haven't had FTE, failure to feed, failure to ignite, failure to go into battery with the gun through a few hundred rounds now. And I'm surprised how easy it is to shoot accurately.
I keep meaning to call Kahr about my one mag with a loose base plate but I keep getting busy with stuff.
I know the Kahr manual tells you to use the slide release to chamber rounds, but I've never had a problem slingshotting the slide on either a CM9 or MK9. It works every time.
