I have a question for all of the HK USP Compact fans...I purchased one in 9 mm a few months back...I really like the weapon...I find it to be a great match for me..point well for me and the grips size is just perfect...I have shot it well from the start and enjoy it so much that I have been shooting a lot more lately...Last Saturday I took it out along with my Sig 226...this was the first time I had shot a Sig since buy the USP C...Man the trigger on the Sig is so much smoother than the HK it is hard to describe...Now to my question will the trigger on the HK smooth out with time, it has several hundred rounds thru it already if not can a good gunsmith smooth out the trigger...Now I remember why liked Sig so much.

My USp9compact Variant 1 has smoothed out a bit after about 5000 rounds.
You could try the LEM trigger and see if you like it better. The downside to that is that you lose the manual safety.

I have 4 USPs - from Expert to compact...and w/o a doubt, the triggers get nicer as you shoot them ;)

LEM

Following what Para-Ord. did with their LDA, LEM is one of the new breed DAO mechanisms. In short it pre-tensions the mainspring so you get a lighter pull. The hammer stays down, but your trigger pull finishes tensioning the main spring as it cocks and releases the hammer. I believe it will also revert to full DA for restrike capability in the event the primer doesn't ignite. SIG's DAK is functionally similar. Glocks operate similarly with the striker sitting at about 60% cocked, and then the trigger pull finishes cocking and releases the striker, but there is no restrike cpability.
