any of you guys make your own kydex holsters? i'm gettin' ready to try to make one when my kydex ships to the house. any pictures or advice? thanks guys......hvychev77
Advice? I use a toaster oven that I picked up on a garage sale to heat the Kydex. It's nice because it has a timer and it came with a flat tray to put the Kydex on. DO NOT set your temp any higher than 275 degrees. Overheated Kydex produces toxic fumes.
Use work gloves to remove the Kydex and tray from the oven.
If you need to do touch-up work, use a heat gun set on its lowest setting. Move the heat back and forth across the area you want to touch up. Don't focus the heat on a particular sport for long or you will melt the Kydex, as opposed to softening it.
I purchased a Kydex press from www.knifekits.com. It makes the job a lot easier. I also have an extra piece of press foam that I use when making single-sided presses like those pictured above. I use plywood for the flat side of single-sided presses.
Here's another project for a Glock 20. This holster is all Kydex with clips on the back that allow it to be attached to PALS webbing on backpacks, etc.
I like those crossbreed style IWB holsters, I'd love to try a crossbreed (or similar) but don't have the dollars or the patience to wait for the lead times I've been hearing from companies.
thanks for the posts on here guys. i ordered some kydex from amazon last night, and i did some reading online about how to treat it as far as oven temp. and all that jazz. if it turns out nice, i'll post some pics on here, if it turns out bad, i'll probably be asking for more advice!!! thanks again, hvychev77

Have you seen this from Old Faithful holsters? It is everything you need to make a crossbreed clone for $20. I haven't tried it yet, but seems pretty cool. For just $20 more though, I think I am just going to order the finished product and not mess around with it.
I heard about it on this site a few days ago. There aren't really any reviews that I could find, just one guy. But it seems like the design is pretty simple, and everybody loves the CBST, so it can't be too far off.
