Hornady Powder Measure with Lee Turret & Safety Prime

Hi,

I have a Lee Classic 4-hole turret with the safety prime and a Hornady Lock-N-Load powder measure. I have been reloading rifle rounds using it as a single stage, but am looking to attach the powder measure to the press for pistol reloading.

It understand there is a riser that raises the powder measure, but I'm not sure if it will be enough for my Hornady measure.

Does anyone know if that will work, or any other way to put the Hornady measure on my turret press with the safety prime?

interesting . my neighbor has a lee turret reloader. some day i should try my hornady powder measure, just thinking about the concept, i dont think enough room on the lee turret. My Hornady LNL AP has five holes . If have to use a riser the case activated function would not work. With out the case activated function. would just be a normal measure. Any normal powder measure would work if can get it to mate to the lee powder thru expander die. Lyman makes a set of powder thru expanders with its own die the will fit most normal powder measures.

The Hornady measure that I have is not case activated. It must be manually dumped each time. I just thought it would speed things up to be able to dump the powder in while the brass was on the press.

I was thinking of trying to rig up some kind of extension with a threaded metal tube that would raise the powder measure...thoughts?

Also, do you think the weight of the Hornady measure would cause any problems with the auto-index of the turret press? It is pretty heavy.

I put a uniflow on my turret with the Hornady CAPD kit. I bought the parts from Midway for about 70 bucks and put it to work. The CAPD ( case activated powder drop) comes with everything you need to put a uniflow or Hornady powder measure on your press. I use the uniflow because I hear the Hornady measure is pretty big and a little heavier. The Turret indexes from a little plastic nut. I figure the uniflow would work better. I got the idea from this forum, one of our members did this. I forget his name but I'm glad I took his advise. Search for uniflow and Lee turret, maybe his post will come up.
