I put some Hornandy 165GR SST Superformance across my magneto speed a while back. The rifle is a Winchester Extreme weather SS with a 22" barrel. I was shocked at the Velocity I got. It did just as advertised an average velocity of 2950 FPS. That is screaming out of a 22" barrel. This stuff is for real.

My rifle wears a Mc Millian edge stock and is a super handy, light weight mountain/saddle rifle. I think with this ammo just turned it into my go to sheep, goat and general high country rifle. I had a buddy of mine who reps for Hornandy send me some 165 gr GMX we'll see how it does. Not that you need these kinds of velocity to make a .30-06 do what it does but it does increase the usability of the old 06 by a bit.

I tried a few boxes of it in 308 and 30-06 right after it came out. Unless I'm mistaken they initially advertised that load at 3000 fps. About 2950 is what I got too, but with poor accuracy in my 30-06. Mine is an older SS Classic also in a McMillan with 22" barrel. My hand loads will shoot 165 gr loads to 2925 fps so I never really fooled with it. It might be worth trying another box. They did have a recall on some of the early runs and I didn't find out about it until after I had already shot all of mine. It may have been part of the recall and account for the poor accuracy.

The 150 gr 308 loads are advertised at 3000 fps. I was only able to get 2950 from my 308, also a 22" rifle, but accuracy was very good. Considering about 2890 fps is where I get the best accuracy from my 308 hand loads I'd seriously consider using them in my 308. While not quite up to advertised speeds, it is still better than I can get with hand loads and with comparable accuracy. But once again, my hand loads are cheaper, and 2890 is fast enough so I never bought anymore.

But the ammo is reasonably priced and for a non hand loader a good choice.

Yes, Hornady's SuperFormance is excellent. I used the SuperFormance 130 grain SSTs in my M70 Super Grade; one shot-one kill at about 202ish yards. The Weatherby Mark V, in .300 Win Mag is extremely accurate with the SuperFormance 165 grain GMXs. Again, one shot; one kill at about 250ish yards. Velocities are accurate. Lastly, I use the SuperFormance 35 grain bullets in my M70 Stealth, .22-250 Rem. The velocity is 4,460 FPS. All three rifles perform very accurately with that ammo.

Every few years or so, we head west for pronghorn antelope hunting. For this long range shooting I hunt with my Remington in .243 and the ammo must be fast and accurate. I've had good luck with Black Hills ammo but recently bought a couple boxes of Hornady SUPER. Its just as accurate at the 250 yard mark and should be deadly well beyond this distance. I give this Hornady ammo the thumb's up!
