How hard would it be?

Hello everyone, here's a question for you. I personally like the look of the Spiller & burr replica, but it would be great to have it in steel, even if mild steel.

How hard would it be to take a Spiller frame and have it recreated for a low run production in mild steel? Couldn't a CNC machine shop make a mold and be able to create such a thing, and maybe come up with 100 frames for a cost of maybe $100-$150 a piece?

I know it's far fetched, but it's just an idea. It's the age of 3D printing and all ;)

1) Whitney replicas are all GONE. I have not seen one turn up on Gunbroker since 2007.

2) I'd like to have something that could handle 20 grains of 777 for the long haul. Plus, steel frame looks better than brass frame.

I mean, someone had to have the idea to start making replicas in the first place. How hard could it be to just recreate the frame of a spiller/whitney?

If I worked for Uberti I'd convince them to start building Whitney Navy and Whitney pocket replicas...

I have definitely looked at those Rogers and Spencers. $450 is starting to sound a bit pricey for a percussion replica, but not insane.

I still think the Whitney has finer lines. I would also like (but don't think it's ever been reproduced) the Remington Police New Model.

I'm a sucker for the looks, which is why I went with the Uberti 1861 as my first gun.

I always liked the look of the Whitney vs the others. I have not seen a whitney for sale for three years. Even then it was an old kit gun from 40 years ago.

I don't know which company made them, but I would think there would be enough demand that Pietta could make a run. They already make a Spiller.
