Im looking to get a revolver for hunting .Im looking at the taurus 44 raging bull. Does anyone have any pros or cons on the taurus for hunitng?

I had a fellow let me shoot his in .454 once. The gun seemed very well put together and very stout. The grip did a very good job of soaking up the recoil and the accuracy was top notch. I got to shoot .45Colt wimp loads, heavy loads, .454 lites, and heavies. With lite loads it handled like a pussycat and with the heavies it roared like a lion. The gun had a concussion wave that was truly wild with the .454's. I'd never shot a .454 before so I don't know whether it was the round or the porting but my guess is the porting took it to the next level.

The .44Mag is my heavy choice and that is also available in the Raging Bull. I'm a Ruger man so I went with the Super Redhawk for my hunting revolver but I have nothing against the Raging Bull series as I think they are the best made Taurus products.

Super Redhawk. It's better, faster, stronger...... It's the one million dollar gun!

..ching, ching, ching, ching, ching.......BANG!

:D

It also has a better resale value.

When I was looking for a hunting .44, I was *this close* to getting the Raging Bull. I went to a local gun shop and found that the Taurus M-44 (a 629 Clone) had a little better fit to my hand and ended up getting that one. I topped it with an Aimpoint II red-dot scope and ended up getting my best buck ever with it. Good gun. I also own a S&W 629 and a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter, and the Taurus stands up to both of them.

Here's a technical / anecdotal loook at my first kill with the Taurus:

Should do just fine. Glad to see you aren't thinking 454 as I believe they aren't for everyone from a shooter's perspective.

my hunting revolver is a ruger super redhawk in 480 w/ a nikon 2x scope. i didn't care for the taurus at all, and the ruger was a good choice. if i were to do the purchase over again, i would go the same exact route - except maybe the scope...
