I'm interested in Low Flash, good metering, 230gr. JHP in .45 ACP with pressure well within safe margins. I've come to the conclusion that this is a rather tall order. It dawned on me that I could purchase .45 Super brass and develop a 900 fps load using a fast spherical/ball powder such as Tightgroup, or AA#2. I mention these two powders because they have low flash and good metering. I'm not sure how clean they would be, or if they might suffer pressure spikes with heavy loads in the smaller capacity Super brass. Anyone have an interest in such a project? Any experience with such a load?

I am getting good results with AA #2.
It gives factory velocity with below maximum loads and was rated lowest in flash of 14 powders tested for IDPA Tactical Journal.
I don't know about .45 Super but I got a 230 FMJ to 902 fps with 5.8 grains AA #2 in plain vanilla .45 ACP. The AA maximum is 6.1 grains.
I am getting 806 fps with 230 FMJ and only 5.2 gr AA #2 which is below their starting load of 5.5 gr and higher velocity than shown for it.
This is kind of strange so be careful working it for top speed, you might find that pressure spike I haven't seen because I am satisfied with GI or a bit less.
