I got mine at a Pawnshop in ABilene, Texas . They had a piece of paper taped to the window saying, SKSs on sale. Chinese $100 , Russian $120. Comes with all accessories.

Yes, those were the good days of summer so to speak. My very first centerfire rifle to own so happens to be a 1950 Russian. Lots of memories . But again, seeing this one on auction in so nice of a condition just draws those memories.

I paid $200 for one just like it some years back, sold it to a friend for the same price.

The only one I still have is a '53 Tula laminate I gave $350 for

I paid $350 for this 54 Tula. A far as I can tell, it was new/unissued, or possibly an arsenal refinish. My bayo is blued, not chromed.

Ak103, I have one like the guy above you. I think I read that when they were reconditioned at the arsenal a bolt was added through the grip to prevent stock cracking and the bolt was finished in black to reduce glare. I not sure if that is true as a rule however.

Mine has the extra bolt through the stock and the black bolt. I bought it at a pawn shop for $175.00

A black bolt carrier and/or black bayonet blade are sure signs of a refurb. Electro-pencilled numbers are also a sure indicator. In addition, you should also find a stamped "box" marking near the serial number or on the top cover. Never heard the grip bolt info, don't think that's common at all.
