I knew I'd start seeing these classifieds!

Similarly, saw a guy at a show carrying a S&W Model 329, along with a sign which described it as having been "fired five times only". Having shot both models mentioned in this thread so far, the 329 has a higher Boy this is too much gun for me with full-power loads factor than the .500.

In the late '60s and early '70s...

I remember seeing ads (not on the web, obviously) for "Smith & Wesson Model 29; with holster and partial box of ammunition".

They didn't hear Inspector Callahan mention the '... light Special loads...' he typically carried, I guess.

Still cracks me up.

I've been seeing used 500's since they came out. Only way to tell they are used is see it written on the tag! Or, some of the stores around here have color-coded tags for new, used, consignment, etc.

I also see tons of barely used .454 SRH and Raging Bulls too. Some good deals to be had!

<HA!>

For Sale. Smith and Wesson, model 500, 8 5/8 inch barrel, factory case and nylon holster. Shot 20 times.

The gunshop I frequent has a junk shelf where they sell off random crap from their back room. There're on that shelf a couple boxes of .500 S&W, one with a few rounds shot, one with one round shot. Just wonder what the story behind these was. . .

Guy comes into the shop I worked in long ago. Said he was going hunting in Africa and wanted a Model 70 African. OK. Rifle comes in with 20 rounds of ammo and the guy hustles down to get it on a Friday evening. Saturday afternoon he's back with the rifle, 18 loaded rounds and two empties asking us to sell it for him. Two shots was enough for him.
Relax, slopemeno. It was 25 years ago.
Chances are the .50 S&W became too expensive to shoot after paying for the hernia surgery. Five and an eighth pounds empty and $30 plus per 20.
