Since this thread is still current...I guess my biggest issue with the lock is that:
1.It's ugly as sin.
2.Totally unnessary.
3.Contrived by the lawyers guild that I swear by God will be the ruin of all things eventually in this nation.
Fwiw I also own a pre crossbolt Marlin 336 and would not ever consider buying one with that ugly wart on the side of it.
Same goes for certain Remington rifles and shotguns with that stupid key lock placed upon it.
