i need some expert opinion on which rifle to get.
i am selling off most of my collection to get a few nice hunting rifles, which will make me more familiar as well as greatly simplify my reloading.

for my main rifle i want controlled feed, fixed magazine, wood stock, and blued finish. i know this much, but what about weight, for an only rifle what should it weigh? im looking into the ruger hawkeye in .308 or the kimber 84m in .308, the ruger is about 7.5 lbs while the kimber is about 5.5 lbs. money is no issue here as long as it meets that criteria.

also for the cz 550, can you load the detachable magazines through the ejection port like you can a lee enfield or is it like the fn spr detachable mag?

for a main hunting rig in 308, i would look at kimber, remington ti, and remington m7.

i'd use low talley lightweight rings and scope it w/ a leupold 6x42.

for a main hunting rifle, without knowing your terrain, i like my rifles to come in about 7-ish pounds scoped.

You need to load the 550's mag, not through the ejection port.
