It has happened a few ways:

I'm not coordinated to begin with I guess.

1. grabbed something else on the counter and knocked one to the floor.
2. didn't clip onto pocket correctly and that one hit the concrete.
3. dropped one where my hand just was in the wrong position and it fell down, that one I even tried to lift my leg to cradle the fall, but only resulted in flinging it further on the tile floor.

Result: anxiety! panic! Check over the blade, make sure it's still in shape and not damaged. I'm lucky so far, all my drops appear to have had minor results. The BM 15020 has a tiny tiny tiny chip out of the scales. You need a microscope to see it.

After 5 days I stop thinking about it.

Just slow down a notch and pay more attention to what you're doing OR make sure you keep getting knives good enough to withstand the abuse.

Dexterity

I think I heard somewhere that slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

Seems that in my life, "hurried" seldom results in "fast."

I only drop new knives. I've ruined a Protech Godfather and a pair of Vantage Pros on the first outing for each. Must be something psychological because cheap or old knives are no problem.
