I wait 80 days for my permit, and it's full of errors!

(ME Non-Res) My DoB and height are both incorrect.

Now I have to call the number and get a new permit sent...which means I can't send my NH app. until I get the corrected permit to photocopy!

Hopefully I won't have to wait longer than the time it takes for them to make a new permit and mail it out...

Yep I double checked it and it is only my DOB and height. Everything else is correct.

The year of birth was wrong on my LTCF. The lady just crossed the wrong date off and hand wrote the right date above it. I live in Pennsylvania.

I assume your LTCF is paper? I heard that those aren't exactly "wallet-sized"

Mine's a plastic card like a drivers license. Much better than the ones in my home-state of VA which are also paper.

I wouldn't be in any hurry to send in NH. I am told they are WAY behind. I have waited 1 month and my check hasn't cleared yet. I called any they say they have no record of receiving my application. The only way of checking receipt of the app is they look to see if they payment is on file. AW GEEZ!

You shouldn't have had to wait 80 days, either. VA law requires they issue within 45 calendar days, if they don't they MUST issue you a temporary permit. Hold their feet to the fire.

Licenses are crazy and (as you've discovered) they're made worse by the fact that they often take so long to issue. (For example, NY state makes a big deal about how you need to have a picture for your license which was taken within the last 30 days, but then they take months to issue it to you. So what good is that? ) In any case, I hope yours gets fixed soon.

Also on the issue of time, my NY State pistol license actually lists my age on it. Age, that is, at the time the license was issued, and the date that it was issued, but not date of birth. So, the only information that gives to a law enforcement officer who looks at it is, "Gee, he was XX years old at some point in his life." I guess the officer could do some math and count forward from the year it was issued to the present year and determine how old I am currently ... but why include "age" at all, since that's a figure which becomes less and less accurate with every passing year?

I forgot to mention in the OP that this is Maine I'm talking about, where there is a 60 day limit, but there is nothing that forces them to abide by it like VA does (with our de facto permits we can get if they run over 45 days).

NM DPS played the "we have no record of your applicaiton" game for a while. I drove to Albuquerque, 300 miles round trip, to hand deliver the application package. I recorded the name of the person I handed the package to, the time of day and the date.

I sent in a change-of-address for my ME Non-Res permit about 2 weeks ago and just got it back with all the new info on it yesterday.

Was happy to see they went to the "hard card" type of permit, too. Now if PA would just get off their butts and do the same thing...

I recommend calling the issuing agency to see what they can do to expedite issuing you another permit with correct information.

You don't want to be in possession of a permit that isn't current or contains inaccurate data. I know it's not your fault, but you'll be the one who's accountable

Update: I called the Gaming and Weapons Section on Nov.10th and talked to a friendly woman who asked for the correct information and said the new permit would be sent out right away. I received it today, two days later.

+1 to Maine State Police. Took longer than they're supposed to in sending out my original permit but they were very polite and speedy in getting my corrected permit to me.

PA Residents get the hard card, but the NON-RES permit (issued from Centre County) is still paper...(and not wallet sized, either!)
