Yesterday I had 6 rounds from a box of 50 fail to fire in my S&W model 327 TRR8. I was shooting Winchester 38 special ammo purchased at Wal-Mart only a few days before.

My TRR8 has had a partial trigger job by which I mean I smoothed some surfaces but did not change or alter the springs at all. Nothing has been modified. This is not the first time I've had this problem but it didn't start until after I'd fired 800 or so rounds.

Am I just getting old ammo? Should I send the gun back to S&W for service?

Perhaps the screw that sets the tension on the main spring
has backed off. I had this happen on a 686P after
fitting some Hogue grips that were really a tight fit. DA
was OK, but SA was weaker, snugged it up and
all was right. This is not uncommon, so when you look at
say Cylinder & Slide's options they include the 'staking' of
this screw so it won't back off.

I would say to try a box from Walmart that is from a different lot. If it still misfires then I would probably send the gun back for inspection. I think 6 bad rounds in a box would be unusual but probably not unheard of. Some CCI ammo might tell you if you are light striking because they have harder primers.

My local Wally World either doesn't stock much or they don't display it. I bought the only 200 rnds they had when last in there... Sportsman's Warehouse and the local range haven't any at all. Not even in .357 mag!

When available I will try other brands.
