This doesn't fit here, doesn't seem to fit anywhere. I have a relative thats a Medic in Iraq. Looking for suggestions for Christmas gift. Can be practical, fun, or anything. All input appreciated.

Multitool like a Leatherman or the Gerber equivalent?
SOG Powerlock- even better quality, and tough as nails. The geared pivot on the pliers will allow them to hold up to tough use much longer than the pivot style used by Leatherman, et-al. My PST failed at the pivot- albeit after a decade (Leatherman did replace it with a brand spankin' new top-of-the line model, so I can't be too upset).

Try to find out if they like games. We acquired a dart board and several sets of darts. It gives you a chance to relax, spend time together and is fun and challenging.

A plane ticket out of Iraq? Ok well short of that I would say the dart board is a great idea. Might be fun to ship it with some conveniently sized pictures of famous terrorists.

One of those knives with a seat belt cutter. They go through clothes to expose the wound faster than the standard scissors and they cut through the strap adjustments on the sides of the Interceptor vests with no problem.

i sent my buddies a lot of porno and baby wipes (because CNN said that they needed lots of baby wipes).
they got in trouble!
apparently they are not supposed to get that kind of stuff.

Phone cards.
Sweet treats.
Letters from family and friends.
Digital camera.
Hometown team sportswear.
A picture of the holiday dinner, complete with description along with a promise that he will recieve the same meal for himself and a couple of his buddies when he returns (priceless, this will give 'em something to talk about).

Find out what he likes to do when he's home. Like if he's into college football, make a dvd or tape of some games. If he's into cars, send him some car magazines. Basically get him stuff that he would enjoy in normal life. They don't have to be big super thoughtful presents. Just find casual random stuff he likes here in the States, and send them over there.

Sounds crazy but current videos of his favorite TV shows would likely be appreciated.

Probably best just to ask him though. Support activities vary greatly from location to location in theater so he might not need a thing (except to come home and see loved ones) or he might need/ want all kinds of stuff.

I really enjoyed some dvd's of regular TV shows. When the insomnia kicked in, I was able to fall asleep to the good old American commercials and sitcoms.

Bogie, try using USPS flat rate shipping. It is cheaper if you are sending heavy stuff. If everything you send is light, it will actually cost you more than sending in a regular box.
