I've got a question about holsters. I like the look of the Milt Sparks Versa Max 2 (actually, I like the Watch Six a lot more, but it can't use the tuckable kydex clips :( ) holster:

Unfortunately, they put the clips a little low on the gun, so it rides kinda high. Does anyone know if there are any high-quality tuckable IWB holsters that let the gun sit a little lower, more like this:

(forgive my bad photoshopping)

Wow I always thought the VM-2 rode too low!! There is a reason why the holster rides at the height that it does.... access to the gun. The lower the ride height that harder it is to access the gun and obtain a proper grip on the pistol. That’s one of the reasons that cheap IWBs like those from Uncle Mikes don’t work that well and are slow into action. I suggest that if you don’t have the VM-2 you give it a chance before going after a holster that rides even lower. I think you’ll find that the ride height is adequate.

I always like a holster to ride higher..... more along the lines of the Summer Special. The VM-2 was always too low for my tastes but it seems to work for most people. Again I would hesitate to go any lower in ride height for fear of slowing down the draw stroke and impeding the access to the gun. However, if you still feel the need for a holster like the VM-2 you might want to check with Tucker Gun Leather. I seem to recall them making a tuckable holster similar to the VM-2 but with a lower ride height..... but I doubt it’s as low as your picture as most holster makers realize how much that would limit the access to ones gun. Good Luck!!

The Comp-tac C-T.A.C. holster is adjustable (kydex) if you don't have hide as a requirement. I am seriosly considering getting one.

Thanks for the input, guys. I'll keep all this in mind. I unfortunatley don't live in a town where I can try on various holsters, so I'll have to see what I can manage.

Besides, it'll be a while 'till I go with a new holster ... I'm gonna change guns in a couple months, and figure I can wait till then.

I've heard others say it rides a bit high and the consenus was that if you are tall, it is fine....but if you are on the shorter side the draw can seem a bit akward....but that would be true of any high ride IWB....

I’ve got the disagree with that just a bit. I’m barely 5’5†tall (or short as it would be) and I find that a higher riding IWB holster is faster and more comfortable. Just my $0.02. ;)
