Hey everybody,
I recently aquired a Kahr CW45 to replace my Kahr CW9. Imagine my surprise when I logged onto the Comp-Tac website and discovered the CW45 is not a model they have the Kydex "face plates" to match to the hybrid holster they make. I sent an E-mail to the "contact us" address and recieved a (prompt) reply from Randy which stated that the P45 holster might work. He said he "wasn't sure since he'd never tried it."

Well, even with such a ringing endorsement I was loathe to drop 35 bucks plus tax and shipping on it right away. I trucked on out to Kahr's website and discovered the pistols are almost identical in dimesion save for the slide length. There appears to be about 3/10ths of an inch difference with the CW45 being the longer of the two.

My question is: Has anyone tried it, seen it done or heard of someone else tryingit and having it work? I know it seems a little obsessive to dwell on such a small purchase but I think I'd rather have something that works rather than relegate another piece of equipment to "the drawer of uselessness."

By the way, the holster is the nicest piece of EDC kit I've ever indulged in. The fit, finish, comfort and retention are second to none and I'm immensely glad I own it. I fully endorse the product and just want to continue to use it. I'm excited to hear any input from you fine folks and I thank you in advance for any help you might offer.

I did search and didn't find an answer to my question.

It's not exactly the same situation, but...

I have carried a P9 and a CW9 in the same CTAC holster, and it fit both of them just fine. The CW series guns don't have quite the same shape at the front of the slide, (more angular, less beveled,) compared to the P series guns. However, they are otherwise identical in dimensions.

I could guess that a CW45 would fit a P45 MTAC holster just fine. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. My only concern is that the P45 and CW45 are different lengths. With the CW45 being a bit longer. I'm more worried about retention than anything else. If the slide is too long it may not "lock" into the holster the way my CW9 currently does.

Did you ever get the holster? Does the CW45 lock in OK? I'm in the same dilema...

If the length is the only problem, just cut the bottom of the kydex body so the gun will pass through. Or you may be able to order a "slide" version body for that series of gun. The "slides" allow for different lengths of guns to work in the same body, like Glocks and XDs where as the only thing different is the barrel/slide length. The longer lengths just hang out the bottom farther.

I had to modify my Comptac paddle holster for my XD. I ordered a paddle holster for my new CZ SP-01, but its a huge diff b/t a 75 and SP01 so the holster wouldnt work. I wanted to use the gun in a class and didnt have time to reorder. The SP01 works in the XD holster just fine other than it was too long to "lock in". So I cut out the bottom so the slide of the CZ could pass through. Worked like a charm for what I wanted it to do. The XD still locks in just fine.

From my experience with the MTAC holster is that the retention is controlled with my belt more than the screws.
