Kimber warrior range report:

I did a test with my New Kimber Warrior.

First let me back up and tell how I got started.
I heard everyone talking about how they would trust a Glock 'right of the box'
So:
Glock 19. I bought it NIB, and took it to the range.
First day, had a jam between round 200 and 250.

Cleaned and lubed it. Had a SECOND jam by round 500.

Today I have ~ 3,000 through that Glock 19 and have had 4 jams.
(Including ~1,000 in Tactical Responses Fighting pistol class)
Ammo was Blazer or WWB.

Kimber:
Buy a Kimber Warrior
(Take it apart, and inspect it in the shop)
Put 450 rounds through it before today (Never lubed or cleaned)

Shoot it today in this manner:
4 mags, 2 rounds in each mag.
Double tap, speed reload, double tap till mags are empty.
Top off mags, repeat (No stops)

Round 804 failed to feed.
The pistol was SMOKING!, and my middle finger was ALMOST uncomfortably warm. (Grip was warm.)
A simple tap, rack, bang cleared it and when I picked up the round IT was warm. (I'm sure the failure was due to heat and not dirt.)

Whatever the case, Over 800 rounds UNLUBED, Straight out the box... This pistol is good to go.

Now I've got to go clean it and say I'm sorry...

All ammo was Blazer brass cased.

I would blame the Blazer ammo before I blamed heat or dirt. Blazer is crap cheapo ammo.

I really think you should've cleaned your warrior before firing it though... It probably still had some factory grit. Too late to worry about that now though, shoot it up and have fun!

I have had a similar experience with my Warrior - a great pistol with ZERO failures of any kind through its first 400 rounds so far.

It does show a preference with certain kinds of ammo for accuracy. The one round I thought would give it problems was the old CCI Lawman 200 grain 'Flying Ashtray' - 1st three rounds at 7 yards were just one .60 inch hole!



The target was from this past Wednesday - 20 rounds of the 200gr Lawman just left of COM followed by 15 rounds of 185gr Remington FP in the head, all at 1 shot / sec.

It's a keeper!

Thanks for posting this, I hear way too many "kimbers are bad" when I know that there are plenty of people who like them.

As soon as I have the funds I'm buying a TLE II.

It does seem like that no matter what good or bad experiences you have somebody will dissagree. Makes it rough for someone to choose if they go by what they read. I'm going to get a new .45 at the funshow. Can't make up my mind so I'll hopefully know its the right one when I put my hands around it.

i'm going to have to add another happy customer with kimber. took mine out on a near zero degree /wet/frozen/muddy day after hunting and she just kept shooting with no hiccups. I think my hands were closer to a malfunction from the cold than the pistol was to a malfunction.

I love my Warrior, I have about 500 rds through it. Only used Blazer and Wolf(it was cheap) and all went bang with no problems.Wolf was dirty as hell though. Enjoy it.

my kimber custom classic is going strong ~6000 rounds. only 4 FTE's and one was because of a case rim failure.

I also have a Warrior and love it. It loves Blazer, and anything else I've put
through her, but doesn't like Blazer Brass. With the Blazer Brass, I'll get a FTF on slide release on a full magazine sometimes. Runs flawlessly once loaded.

I've got 550 rnds, I think, through her so far. I did not clean it during the last 250 rnds and plan to put another 250 through her tomorrow. Not one jam of any kind while firing.

I also put a Hogue wrap around grip on it and love it.

No one told my Kimber it was supposed to fail. It has been perfect since round 1.

I'm currently on my third.

If the first had not thoroughly impressed me, there would not have been a second. And so on.

Current one is a stainless Ultra Carry. It (like it's predecessors) has been perfect.
