Lookin for a autoloader carry gun that I will undoubtedly be able to comfortably carry all the time. Money doesn't allow me to have multiple carry options right now. Also, Kahr is a little out of my price range at this time.

Mainly concerned w/ Kel-Tec reviews, esp. but not limited to the P-9 and P-11.

Ruger LCP reviews too, even though I probably want something in 9mm rather than .380.

Fire away.

good luck

I think the general consensus is that all those guns/brands you mentioned are good, reliable choices.

You will have to decide if the 9mm and/or extra rounds are worth the extra size. I think that's really a choice for you, not us.

We've been talking about a bunch of options in this thread (except the p11, because it's even bigger):

A 380

is a good backup gun and very easy to conceal especially the LCP or the KT. It is not my first choice for a defensive caliber but, as they say, any gun is better than no gun. I would buy the LCP, it is just a little nicer in my opinion, though I have nothing against the KT. Later on you might want something larger as your primary. The only downside to the thinking is that 380 is double the price of 9mm ammo right now so you might be better off with a mid sized 9mm.

I have the P3AT. Have had it a couple of years with no problems. I drop it in my pocket and go.

ammo prices

Don't discount that ammo price difference if you're working around a tight budget. If you plan to practice and send a lot of rounds down range make sure you do the math. The 9mm vs. 380 price difference can really add up.

I have no idea if that pricing structure will continue or not, but right now the price difference is pretty significant and that sucks!

About the price of ammo for the .380, yeah that isn't lost on me. I wanted opinions on the LCP anyway but I already thought of the ammo price plus I already have a Ruger P85MkII (yeah its ok regarding the recall) which is 9mm. I've heard good things about Kel-Tec in the past but when I looked at the MSRPs on their website compared to Kahr my "get what you pay for" alarm bells went off...I couldn't believe it.

No issues with my P32. It doesn't get shot a lot, but when it does it goes bang as it should.

dukefan70, there is a big price difference isn't there!

Going off memory from last week, my dealer wanted:

pm9 - Used "factory demo" (whatever that is, but it looked new to me) for $499
pf9 - Brand new for $269

LCP - brand new $319
P3AT - Brand new $299
TCP - Brand new $309

I have no clue if their pricing was really good/bad on each model or even consistent with what others are finding BUT, that Pf9 price-point sure looks nice in there, right? :)

cskny, that price for the PM9 doesn't look too bad even considering, but the PF9 sure does stand out. Unfortunately, besides the fact that they're out of my price range right now, Kahr's can only be gotten used in the Communist Commonwealth of MA (I'm not from here, but as some say, "Freedom started and ended here.") And Taurus isn't allowed here anymore either, by the way. So since I'd much rather have a 9mm than a .380 for a carry piece, Kel-Tec is lookin real good right about now.

I'm a Kel-Tec fan, have a SUB2K I love. But when I looked at both the P3AT and the LCP at the same time, it was obvious the fit and finish on the LCP was much better. No info on the reliability of the K-T, but the Ruger just looked and felt as if it were made to a higher standard.

I finally got my license purchase order for the LCP, and went to the range with a variety of ammo. The LCP shot through 110 rounds of varied ammo without a hiccup.

Zero problems.

I'm happy with it.

Kel-tec PF-9. 500-round mark. No malfunctions, from out of the box to present day. Shoots common and easy(er) to find 9mm. Slip on rubber grip is nearly mandatory as recoil from such a light gun is HARSH. I love mine to death.

I have a Kel-tec P3AT...I love it...about 250 rounds thru it and not one single malfunction...Only reason I bought it was for ease of carry though...I think its about the only reason someone would buy one i guess..
