Been awhile since I was looking for a scope. So what's up with Leupold these days. Seems like VX-Freedom or spending spending 1000+ Im looking for low power 1-6ish for hunting within 100-150 yards with a either 7.62x39 or 44 mag bolt action, maybe even 357. Likely a Ruger American in 7.62x39, is what I think Im leaning towards. I haven't bought the gun yet. As some friends are going bigger... I think I want to hunt with less boom lol

Anyhow thank you in advance for any info

If you can find one I put the VX Freedom 2x7x33 Hunt Plex reticle on my Henry 44Mag. Darn fine scope for it's purpose...

awesome I bought 3 VX-1's, 3x9's for dirt cheap when they had a line up change maybe 7-8 years ago. Been great scopes. on a 308, 30-06 and a 22 mag. I wish I bought the vx-6's 2-12's they were selling for around $600... but I passed...
This was when the "HD" stuff was coming out if I remember right.
What I'm reading is the the freedom line is approx. vx-2 optical quality.

Thanks for the reply, 2-7 is about what I'm looking for. Most of my shots are 25 yards out to sometimes 90 tops on my property.

The VX-Freedom is supposed to be comparable to the now discontinued VX-2 series. They dropped both the VX-1 and VX-2 when it was introduced. Based on my experience that seems to be a pretty fair comparison.
