Went into LGS today not intending to buy anything. Had a look at the scopes as I was looking at them last night on-line. I wanted a BDC style scope (Nikon BDC or Leupold B&C)

Didnt really like the Nikon and the round reticle markers. Figured the VX-III was WAY out of my price range as they list for about $840 from optics planet/cabelas etc, but still looked to see what all the fuss is about.

They had the model I was looking at 4.5-14X50 LR (side focus) with he B&C reticle. Wow was pretty nice but didnt think I could afford it till I saw what it was marked @ $600!!!! :what:

Needless to say I snapped it up right there!! I dont know if it was in the shop for a while or not to have been priced that low or what.

Now about the scope...
The reticle is very crisp and clear and seems easy to use the BDC concept. In dim house light seems to let in lots of lightm but we will see how it is when I take it out to boresight it this evening with the laser. That 30mm tube is thick and "may" have less restriction on light flow, thus helping with the brightness in low light? Seems quite short/compact compared to other scopes too.

Other scopes I own are a cabelas branded scope, bushnell elite 3200 and a weaver vx-16. None of those touch this thing, yes it much more $$$ but wow is this thing nice. It should be a perfect match for my A-Bolt .270 WSM for mulies/elk/antelope out west here.

BTW online they mention a neprene scope cover, there wasnt one in the box, it was opened in the display case so it may have been put under the counter. If not Ill call/e-mail leupold and see what they can do?
