I'm looking for apit, api, and tracers for handloading 223rem and 308 but i have yet to be able to find a good source for them and i have no idea what to use powder wise with them when i do find them, id also like to find man markers for the 223 but I'm not sure if i can even get my hands on those, I'm hoping someone here knows where to look for them

all help is appreciated

On the 223, I've loaded a good many M856 tracers with H335 and have had success with them. Not very accurate but fun at night. I've heard this is a long range tracer that is supposed to light 50-100 yards from the muzzle out to 6-700 yards, but most of mine light immediately with this powder.

Ok, something id really want to get my hands on is the 223 incendiary i didn't see on on pats, but every thing else looked to be a good price so thanks for the information

Anybody got any idea on what powder they are using at Lake City for the 5.56, 55 and 62gr loads? I'm thinking WC844, but could be wrong.

And, does anyone know where you can get the LC 55gr bullets in bulk? Widener's has them listed but are out of stock..

With half the western USA already on fire, and the middle to eastern half in a dry weather fire hazard condition??

I really question where one could use Tracers safely, or what you could use Incendiary bullets for anyway??

Yeah, I don't get the tracers thing either. But do get great accuracy with the LC 193. Thats why I'd like to get close to the same loads doing my own..

If you think you get great accuracy with any M193 bullet & load?

You ain't tried any good commercial bullet like a Hornady V-Max, Sierra HP match, Nosler BallisticTip, etc.

The best military FMJ-BT bullet ever made will not shoot nearly as well as almost any commercial bullet with the jacket hole in the front of the bullet jacket.

I don't care who ya are.

Same gun, same load, same benchrest, same target, same 10 minutes.

Winchester M193 FMJ-BT and Nosler Ballistic Tip.

Those Frankford Arsenal Match I had had from the 'nam era were amazing for an FMJ-BT... so there are exceptions to that RC.

Straight m193....... not the same creature :D

Lets see your 9/16" 100 yard group then! :D

I was shooting Nam era M193 in the Nam era, for Uncle Sugar and his Eagle.

I know what they will do, and they won't do what todays modern commercial Match HP or Ballistic-Tip bullets will do.

If I had any more than the 12 I had left, I would try to do so .

I'm not sure of the actual diameter of the 4 shot group, but I know for certain a nickel covered it.

I will look back through my stack of spent targets and see if I can locate it.

The FA Match were not the m193's. I'm aware of that. They are a tad bigger :)

Are you aware of the rounds I'm speaking of ? 1968 FAM 173gr FMJBTs ?

They are really the only production cartridge I'm still looking for..if any can be found. Haven't had much luck. I have a WTT thread here somewhere on them.

I see the threads been hijacked, my reason for incedinaries(although i don't know why i should have to explain my reasons) are to shoot ar500 steel, I'm in,Indiana, it ain't on fire, so does anyone know where to get them as reloading components?

Today - 50 yards, open sights. Armalite M15A2. Lake City M193.

Will load Hornady bullets with Varget and do this again next week.

Can you guys please try to stick to the original topic, i know this sight is free to everyone but it sure does make sorting out the information that I'm after a pain

I understand your in Indiana and it's not on fire.

What RC recommended is being careful with shooting right now because conditions are favorable for fire starting in Indiana. We'd hate for one bad shooting session to cause a knee jerk reaction (such as is happening out west) and for shooting restrictions to be placed on everyone.

As for the thread hijacking, ... well... it is an open forum.

Seriously, I'm just trying to make it easier to sort through the information, it will be a while before i shoot any, most likely winter, area I'm in has had a fair bit a rain the last few weeks, a simple warning is a good thing but I'm still looking for my incedinaries, if that's to much to ask for then please don't respond

FWIW the tracer bullets that I have obtained through several sources (20K+ of them) have been dismal in the tracing aspect. I would hazard a guess of less than 1% lit for me. I was using tracer specific propellant and used both .224 and .308 bullets. Good luck finding any that are any where near accurate and do light for you. The only incendiary bullets I have messed with were pulls from 303 BRIT ammo and I reloaded them for a Mosin in 7.62X54R. They did work but I only purchased 25 and they went quick!:(
