I have a 16" Armalite AR-10 that is currently wearing a poor mans ACOG (Burris 332). I would like something better. Like not made in China.
This is my "hurricane" gun. Whether it be evacuation or riding it out. And all around fun shooter. Maybe some light hog hunting if oppurtunity arises.
Current set up is pretty standard:
Folding front and rear sights.
YHM suppressor.
Magpul set up with CTR, MOE forearm, MIAD grip.
Burris 332 3 power optic calibrated for. 223.
I like the way it is set up save for the optic. It balances and points well unsupressed.(that will be fixed with a titanium suppressor)
My intended use is to hit 19"X24" size targets out to 500ish yards. Not a bench gun. Quick hits on possibly multiple targets. I don't want to rely on batteries unless its in the aimpoint range as far as battery life and takes a common readily available battery.
Options I am considering are as follows:
Trijicon Accupoint 1X4 with green triangle mounted in Larue QD mount....so far this is my favorite. Flexible, QR to swap to irons easily. How durable are they? I know they are not ACOG durable, but I would like something that can hold up to field use. I like the ability of variable power, how forgiving is eye relief on 1 power? I know its not like a red dot, but is it close?
Trijicon ACOG calibrated for .308, dunno which one yet........well its an ACOG. Its bombproof. I have one on an AR15 and like it. Downside is, I don't think its as flexible as the Accupoint but, its tougher. And the cost.
Aimpoint Comp4 or Comp4s.....maybe with a magnifier. I have one of these on a SBR. Its been uber reliable and its still on same AA battery that's been in it for years.
The one I'm not sure about is the SWFA Super Sniper 1X4. I have read some good reviews on these. I have the 3X9X42 FFP and am really impressed with the quality. How's the battery life? I like the idea that if the battery goes, you still have an optic. Anyone got one of these?
I am open to other options and opinions. Any personal experience with any of these is much appreciated. Also if I am looking at the wrong power or type of scopes lemme know. Any input, as I am new to scoped shooting will help.
