I own an Auto-Ordnance M1 Carbine and wanted to change the stock from the standard wood stock to the wood and Metal frame of the M1A1 Paratrooper stock. Cheapest iv'e found was $175, does anyone know if there is one out there for less? Iv'e heard that even though the auto ordnance carbines are Mil Spec, they require some fitting which doesn't bother me. Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. -Danny

The replica stocks should fit an AO Carbine, which are made to mostly GI specs. (I say "mostly" because GI Carbines didn't have cast receivers.) I bought mine a couple years ago from CTD.

$175 is about the going rate for the replica stocks. They are well made. A few things need improvement on them, though:

1. The wood on mine was stained but if it was finished I couldn't tell. I put on 3 coats of tung oil. BLO will work fine as well.
2. The barrel band retaining spring doesn't secure the barrel band as securely as GI springs. I really had to tighten the band screw to keep it in place.
3. The thing on the right side of the cheekpiece does not securely hold the oiler, so I don't keep mine there.

Other than the above it's great.

Hey thanks Dave, any Idea what type of wood it is? Iv'e heard people complain about it being too soft.

Numerich says theirs is all walnut. Think their's might be better quality?

Dave, does your butt plate rub into the side of the stock when folded?

I had a folder repo a few years back, and ended up selling it. Looked cool, but not as functional as the standard stock.
