Grabbed 3000 primers at the gunshow for my 22-250 and didn't realize until I got home that I grabbed 1000 of them in large magnum. Might be a silly question, but I've been re-loading almost half my life and have yet to have a squib/accident and don't want to start now.
10% reduction followed by close case examination?

Varget 35.5
Winchester primers
Winchester brass
55 V-max

Help?

I used to be pretty lax about interchanging components. After all, what difference can one little change make.

I've been reading a lot in various publications, particularly Handloader magazine. Just changing from Federal to Winchester primers in rifles can change pressure by multiple thousands of pounds IIRC.

There is no reliable way for the average person to judge pressure without a pressure gauge set-up

I'd either

(1)...find someone to trade for what you need, or

(2)...use it as an excuse to buy a magnum rifle.

I prefer choice #2. YMMV

I have never used a magnum primer with Varget, You might want to pick up a couple of pounds of H380 to use with the magnum primers, that was a favorite of mine in the .22-250. Very good accuracy!
