I have an inexplicable fondness for the 9x18mm round and the guns that fire it. I have a couple of FEG PA-63s, a Makarov, and a CZ-82. I'm thinking about getting a Polish P64, though I'm not crazy about the limited number of rounds, just to have another pistol chambered in 9x18.

So, what am I overlooking? Are there other pistols chambered in Makarov? I'd swear I saw a PPK in that caliber once, but I'll be danged if I can find any information on it-- I may merely be suffering from some sort of memory failure.

Thanks!

Please excuse a cranky old man,.......

but while the FEG and the P-64 are good weapons, and both fire the 9x18 round, they are not Makarovs. I believe the only real Makarovs were the sidearm for Communist Bloc countries, and were only made in the former Soviet Union, Communist China, Bulgaria, and East Germany. Someone else may wish to expand on this. I do have a Bulgarian Mak (were THEY made by FEG in Bulgaria under Communism?) and it's an outstanding weapon.

I love my CZ-82. I bought 1000 9mm Luger brass to cut down for reloading (I know, I'm nuts ).

The list of firearms that I know of that fire the 9mm x 18mm are:

FEG SMC-918 & RK-59
PA-63
Polish P-64 and the Vanad P-83 (sometimes called a RANDOM wz. P83)
CZ-82 and CZ-83 (you can order a 9x18mm barrel from CZ for the 83)
Russian Select-Fire Stechkin
Kiparis SMG
KTS Pistole 08 (Looks like a Luger in 9x18mm)
"GEPARD" - Russian PDW submachine gun

I would love to get any of the last 4. I don't know if they are even available in the US.

I believe there was a PP Super that fired a 9mm ultra/9x18 police or whatever but I think the bullet diameter was smaller than 9x18mak.

Lordy, Galen! :)

Thanks for the mention of the Radom, I didn't know about that one. The FEG SMC doesn't look different enough from the PA63 to interest me much, but I didn't know about that one either. Your pointers are appreciated!

I own a P-64 and love it. It's not a true Mak but a Polish made handgun in 9x18 Makarov.

The safety on mine broke and I'm looking for a replacement part. If anyone has a line on them PLEASE let me know.
