Suspect jumped over fence into a ravine after police chase
A man died this morning after jumping into a North Austin ravine and drowning during a pursuit with Texas Department of Public Safety troopers.
DPS spokeswoman Lisa Block said a trooper attempted to pull over a car for running a stop sign, but the car sped off. She said the chase reached speeds of 80 mph. The car struck a stop sign and hit another car near the intersection of Metric Boulevardand U.S. 183.
A man and a woman inside the car were arrested; another man fled on foot, climbed over a fence around the ravine and drowned, Block said.
