It's interesting the different titles that the several local news sites give to the same story. Can you tell which news-source is VERY anti-gun?

Channel 6 news: "Police: Man Fatally Shot Robber"

Channel 13 News: "Lawrence police investigate homicide"

Indianapolis Star newspapeer:"Man kills robbery suspect"

Here is the Star's version:

Man kills robbery suspect
Police: Bar customer was attacked in truck and shot assailant 5 times

A would-be robber got more than he bargained for early Saturday when his intended victim pulled out a handgun and shot him five times outside a Lawrence bar, authorities said.

Police identified the suspected robber as Ronald Zenor, 29, Indianapolis, who was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital, where he died.
The incident occurred about 3:30 a.m. as the Sports Page Lounge, 4603 N. Post Road, was closing.

Eric Conter, 22, Indianapolis, had left the bar and climbed into his pickup. Zenor reached through the window, tried to pull a necklace off Conter's neck and began choking him, Lawrence Police Chief Jack Bailey said.

Acting in self-defense, Conter pulled out his 9 mm pistol and shot Zenor, Bailey said.

Panicked, Conter drove off after the shooting, but he later contacted the Indianapolis Police Department and then gave a statement to Lawrence detectives.

Police believe Zenor was involved in a robbery outside another bar in the 8800 block of Pendleton Pike about a half-hour before he was shot. That robbery victim's driver's license and credit card were found on Zenor.

Bailey said Conter, who has a permit for his gun, had a witness who verified his account of the shooting.

While Conter was not arrested, investigators' findings about the shooting will be turned over to the Marion County prosecutor's office for a formal determination on whether to press charges, Bailey said.

Zenor's death was the 98th homicide in Marion County this year.

None of these articles seem outwardly anti-gun, but they do vary quite a bit when it comes to what the actual story is, but these stories were all posted at differrent times.

Only thing seems to be that these three news sites don't agree on what headline will garner them the most traffic.

Hundreds of additional armed robberies have been prevented.

Didn't read the other articles, but where did it say the robber was armed?

Zenor reached through the window, tried to pull a necklace off Conter's neck and began choking him

I dunno', sounds a little Ninja to me - like the guy that always got picked on in school, but now that he legally owns a gun he's gonna' get some vengeance now. That must have been one hell of a chain to not break. And 5 shots, then he cruises the scene?

Personally I would have just got out of the car and beat the crap out of the guy. But shooting a unarmed man 5 times for yanking a chain off his neck? Yeah, sure sounds like his life was in peril. I have a feeling the shooter is gonna' experience some bad days ahead at the hand of the district attny.

Drove off...Later contacted police

I feel the shooting is a bad one.
I also think because he drove off and did not stay at the scene to render aid is not a good deal either. Should have called 911.

Bad decisions, make for a bad shooting. My thoughts anyway.

He muddied it, now I believe he will have some problem for what he did.

HQ:(

Who was it that said-

"If they're worth shootin', they're worth shootin' twice!" ???

Or in this case, 5 times.

I'm on his side, since several others aren't. If someone is choking me, I'm shooting until he stops or my slide locks back, whichever comes first.

nortronics

You know, many anti gunners use the same argument...the whole "use yer fist"
notion is Bovine Excrement.
If yer being choked you have only few seconds to react.
Some of us are experienced street fighters and some of us are not.
So what if he was picked on in high school, I guess he shouldn't vote or have permission to read a newspaper either?
imo he never ever thought some skell was gonna reach thru his window & attempt to kill him by asphysiation & he had a tool handy to remedy the situation.
Anyone attempting to kill me will be met by deadly force (God Willing)

Even if I could win a fair fight with him or her I don't want their blood borne pathogens on my fist...this is real life ...not high school.

Sometimes thugly beast choose a wolf in sheeps clothes:evil:

anyway let this illustrate the need to not only be able to hit our targets but have a plan and a lawyer handy as well.
He panicked, I hope they will let him get on with his life

Sounds just like picked on shooter boy in the story...

And when you catch a knife or a bullet because you decided to "beat the crap out of the guy" who's got his mitts 'round your throat/tie/chain/etc., or when you get a nice case of Hepatitis or AIDS 'cause you've got some scumball's blood on you, feel free to some crying to us.

Ass.

Nortonics, When I am in the mood to punch some one I step into a ring, that way I punch a little, I get punched a little and somebody wins. In the ring we follow rules and know when to stop so no one is serriously hurt. Out side the ring their are NO RULES, you can do anything and because of that I WILL DO EVERYTHING TO ENSURE I AM ALIVE AT THE END OF THE FIGHT.

Where I come from being strangled is deadly force. Eric Conter was perfectly justified in shooting as long as the BG didn't stop and run away. Now if it turns out that the BG was shot 5 times in the back I will change my stance and agree with you that Eric was out for revenge.

Until then, Stop projecting your problems onto other people.
