I attempted to stick a Marlin 10 round nickled mag in my 1989 vintage Papoose (70P) and it wouldn't fit in the mag well. I noticed that the front of the mag pack indicated it as being for a number of Marlin Models with the last shot hold open. On the back it listed a number of other compatible Marlin Models that it is compatible with, including the 70P.
I know that the 70PSS- the new stainless Papoose- has a last shot hold open and trigger guard bolt release. Were any 70P made with the last shot hold open. The mag in question works fine with a later Marlin target semi auto (vintage 1999 or 2000 ish- I forget).
Were there any known date changes in the 70P Production that affect mag compatibility? Any known dates?
