We picked up my wife's Mauser 270 we found from a THR member. Nice rifle, but I've yet to shoot it. It has no markings other than those included. Can anyone identify who L.H. Brown is? Is this a barrel manufacturer? The bolt has obviously been cut and welded and the sporter stock inletted to allow it to fit. Bore was very bright and clean once I swabbed the dust out. My wife is tickled and we are thrilled for what we paid. It came with a 3x9 Tasco. I don't have to shop for a scope immediately, I like that.

There is a serial number under the flat of the bolt handle. But nothing else. I realize that labels are under the scope mount, if any, but there are no other markings I can find, and I had it out of the stock for a thorugh cleaning. The stock is pillar bedded, and fit snugly. The trigger guard is narrow and does not appear to be a smithed down milsurp one. If it is, very good work.

The safety allows for a scope to function and the trigger is pretty smooth. Does anyone recognize the mount on the left side? I cannot find it on any other mausers.

Is this a custom action and barrel with a modified milsurp bolt? Looks like it to me, beyond that, I don't have a clue. I suspect a 98 model since 270 is the long action...right?

Sorry, these are huge files and I don't have my editing software loaded to size them properly. I'm keeping them from being images for loading speed.

Don't know for sure but LH Brown is probably just the gunsmith that put it together, never seen a safety like that either. The old mount is a QD side mount. Without seeing the entire action, and any markings on the bottom, hard to say what it is.

The picture of the side mount won't come up. Is the left rail of the
receiver notched? Is the trigger a two stage military? Does the floor
plate trigger guard assembly have guard screws?

Brown is undoubtedly the gunsmith.
It looks like the action is one of the Mauser variants with a lip on the receiver ring to hold the rear handguard.
The safety is new to me, looks handfiled, likely by Mr Brown.
Can't get the picture of the side mount.
The top mount looks like an old Leupold with hinged rings.

there is a spring loaded piece in floorplate, but I cannot get it to open with a stanard screwdriver. I can't figure if it opens or not. It looks hinged.

Not a two stage trigger. Squeeze, no takeup at all.

Scope mount with rings is Leupold, stamped on it. Has adjustability in the rear on mount. Long range mount?
