We picked up my wife's Mauser 270 we found from a THR member. Nice rifle, but I've yet to shoot it. It has no markings other than those included. Can anyone identify who L.H. Brown is? Is this a barrel manufacturer? The bolt has obviously been cut and welded and the sporter stock inletted to allow it to fit. Bore was very bright and clean once I swabbed the dust out. My wife is tickled and we are thrilled for what we paid. It came with a 3x9 Tasco. I don't have to shop for a scope immediately, I like that.
There is a serial number under the flat of the bolt handle. But nothing else. I realize that labels are under the scope mount, if any, but there are no other markings I can find, and I had it out of the stock for a thorugh cleaning. The stock is pillar bedded, and fit snugly. The trigger guard is narrow and does not appear to be a smithed down milsurp one. If it is, very good work.
The safety allows for a scope to function and the trigger is pretty smooth. Does anyone recognize the mount on the left side? I cannot find it on any other mausers.
Is this a custom action and barrel with a modified milsurp bolt? Looks like it to me, beyond that, I don't have a clue. I suspect a 98 model since 270 is the long action...right?
Sorry, these are huge files and I don't have my editing software loaded to size them properly. I'm keeping them from being images for loading speed.
