With the help of this forum, over the Holidays I loaded 1000 of the MBC XD .45 bullets with great success.

5.1 gr of Titegroup . No leading, no issues.

Now 1000 of the 9mm 147's have arrived.

These are for my 7.5" AR 9mm SBR.

Any recommended Titegroup loads out there? (I've got 8lbs of it.)

Thanks!

I'd recommend you buy another powder. I loaded some plated 147s with titegroup awhile back. It cycled and was extremely accurate, but it used so little powder it was scary. You could triple charge a case and still seat the bullet. Also, it was very soft shooting load out of my 3" bbl Sig. With 7.5" of bbl to play with I'd think you'd want something a bit slower burning.

I switched to Unique and 147gr MBC and really like that load.

any idea the load you used ?

Not worried about overcharging. You can do it with almost any pistol load.

When I load lead bullets, I throw the charge, put it on the scale, verify and then seat the bullet. One at a time.

TG is not a great powder for heavy bullets. I think it was Walkalong that said 'it's like hitting a bowling ball with a baseball bat'. You'll get much better performance from TG with a lighter bullet.

I used a load from the Lyman manual. 2.5gr starting, 2.8gr max. Shoot on a windy day, cause it'll smoke you out.

Yep, I loaded 10 at 2.5gr and 10 at 2.8gr per my Lyman 48th manual( the only published alloy 147gr load I could find)

All 20 fired fine with no pressure signs.

This evening I loaded 96 at 2.5gr again and after shooting them had no keyholing, good accuracy and just a smidge of lead at the throat.

I'm shooting AR500 steel at 7-50 yards. Much fun with a 7.5" AR!

The lube smoke seemed MUCH less than what I get out of my XD .45 MBC loads. Was not an issue.

All in all a success. I'll load another 200 this week and after shooting those if all goes well I'll load the remaining 600 or so.

I used to shoot a bunch 147gr JHPs over 3.3gr titegroup. I would never load it under lead. It will smoke like a train.
