Was feeling nosey this morning since I was going to a meeting for a candidate that is going to challenge Diane Feinstein's best boy, Neil Quinter. I went to the MD Board of Elections site and discovered that there are a few interesting donations to Neil's campaign fund:

1.Quinter, Neil Friends Of Leah Gunn Barrett
Chevy Chase, MARYLAND 20815
Amount:
Date Received:
Contributor Type: $100.00 in check (Money)
01/07/2005
Individual

No news here......just FYI

Quinter, Neil Friends Of Friends of Joseph F. Vallario, Jr.
Suitland, MARYLAND 20746
Amount:
Date Received:
Contributor Type: $100.00 in check (Money)
01/07/2005
Candidate accounts

OK....Chairman Vallario is giving money to Neil's campaign?! Was this an apology for dope slapping him in oublic last year? Somebody explain this one to me

Quinter, Neil Friends Of J Joseph Curran III
Baltimore, MARYLAND 21210
Amount:
Date Received:
Contributor Type: $100.00 in check (Money)
01/05/2005
Ticket purchases by Individuals

The state attorney general is in to Neil as well.....

Quinter, Neil Friends Of

Quinter, Neil Friends Of

Amount:

Contributor Type: $300.00 in check (Money)
01/13/2004
Business Entity

That was all of the ones that jumped out at me. There are several repeat donors that show up on his list that I'm going to research.

Interesting one:

Democratic Senatorial Committee Slate,
Maryland Beretta USA Corp.
Accokeek, MARYLAND 20607
Amount:
Date Received:
Contributor Type: $500.00 in check (Money)
09/09/2002
Ticket purchases by Business Entity

Beretta is giving money to an oranization that would ultimately like to put them out fo busines

it's 2002 chicken dinner "Ticket purchases by Business Entity" money, and it looks like Beretta is offsetting the input from the antis...

The "friends of" money is most likely basket donations at a party
like the one for the AWB that Leah held at her home.

Apparently even washed out antis can contribute:

Frosh, (Brian) Citizens For
Michael D. Barnes
Washington, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 20005
Amount:
Date Received:
Contributor Type: $50.00 in check (Money)

Does anyone still think that Martin O'Malley and Doug Duncan won't be rallying for more gun restrictions when they are accepting money from the likes of Michael Barnes?

Don't make too too much of the little contributions, especially when you see folks like Barretta working "contrary to type".

Buying a ticket to a rubber chicken dinner is a lobbyist's entry fee to get his 90 seconds with the candidate to make his elevator pitch.

GeekWithA.45,

No doubt that you're right....I just hope that they got $500.00 worth of influence. However, knowing these folks there's not chance that it made a bit of difference :(

saw this update on the Ceasefire MD website

I check it from time to time, but saw this new-to-me entry:

Our Advisory Board comprises distinguished Marylanders who share a passion and energy for the cause of gun violence prevention. Law enforcement professionals, political leaders, academics and philanthropists generously lend their expertise and advice to the Executive Director as required.

Hon Chris Van Hollen, Congressman, Maryland’s 8th District

Steve Teret, Founder, Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research

Stuart Simms, Partner, Brown, Goldstein & Levy

Neil Meyerhoff, Baltimore artist and philanthropist

Vincent DeMarco, Managing Director, Maryland Health Initiatives

Peter Beilenson, Baltimore City Health Commissioner

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend

Glenn Ivey, State's Attorney, Prince George's County

David Mitchell, FMR Superintendent, Maryland State Police

Wayne Livesay, Howard County Police Chief

Douglas Gansler, State's Attorney, Montgomery County

Stephen M. Block, Legislative Counsel and Staff Attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of the National Capital Area.

Patricia Jessamy - State’s Attorney, Baltimore City

Chief Tom Manger - Montgomery County Police Department.

I find it interesting that the PG CO police chief isn't a member, neither is the B-More police chief. I heard the PG Chief on NPR last Friday, and he refused to get pushed into a pro-gun control statement by the host while discussing PG's current crime problem. The Chief, instead, talked about how the focus should be on locking up criminals. My respect for him shot up at that point.

In contrast, Chief Manger of Monkey County (formerly of Fairfax County, VA, PD :what: ) can't seem to pass up any opportunity to grab media time and push for more "gun control."

Of course, both the State's Atty and Police Chief of Monkey County are literally "on board" with the Cease-ownership agenda . . .

With this set of "Stellar performers" on the "new" Advisory Board, I really wonder what the upcoming legislative session will be like . . .:uhoh:

Don't get too excited. The way that he wants to get tough on criminals is to make you and I criminals. He has stated that he wants to prosecute to the furthest extent of the law ALL first time firearms offenders. Remember tha pesky little law MD has that says that you may not stop with handguns in your car? :fire:

So much for the statements made during the hearings last year that no one has ever been prosecuted under that insane law. :banghead:

I'm going to do my part to change the way MD politicos think about CCW law. I've been pleasantly surprised to learn that two of the Democrats who represent me were willing to write letters on behalf of my permit application.

Del. Hammen wrote me that he supports my position on CCW.

Does anyone still think that Martin O'Malley and Doug Duncan won't be rallying for more gun restrictions when they are accepting money from the likes of Michael Barnes?

It didn't take contributions from anyone to make me know where O'Malley will be on this. His father-in-law is Joe Curran. While I really hope to see Ehrlich win re-election, I'll take pretty much anyone other than O'Malley (not to mention, aside from the guns issue, I really don't want to watch O'Malley do to my state what he did to Baltimore City). I'll probably be giving a little money to Duncan's primary campaign to help do my part (since I can no longer vote in the Democrat's primary being a registered Republican now) to help insure that there will be no chance of O'Malley winning (even though I do think Duncan is more likely to beat Ehrlich than O'Malley would be).

Curious.....who are your reps?

What area or district do you live in?

I'm Baltimore, Ward 46. My State Delegates are Hammen, Krysiak, and McHale. McHale never called me back, Hammen and Krysiak both called me back and wrote to the Licensing Board on my behalf. They're both considered RKBA unfriendly, but from talking to them I really think it's because they've been wobbly or outright unfriendly to our cause on AWB type issues....but both agreed that CCW was a common sense position and could see no reason why a law abiding citizen shouldn't get to carry a defensive weapon. Good for them...we'll work on the other stuff. As Henry from MSI says, CCW is the lever by which we will move the earth.

And I put a link to Maryland Shooters Forum on my page. I'd love to dive in there and battle on the politics forum, but I've been working all day and my eyes are tired of staring at this monitor. ;)

If they are in favor of the AWB, then they ARE RKBA unfriendly.
