Sure is goofy looking. I've had mixed experiences with taurus firearms, but from what I've heard they stand behind their products.

I guess this is their answer to the Glock 36
 
I can't answer for the .45 but the 9mm I have, I love... The earlier Millineum's had some problems but the new Pro's are great... I've read a lot of good things about them. I think you'll be pleased with it.

I have the PT-145 and the G30. They have been going through side by side testing for some time. The Taurus has a longer trigger pull but fits my hand very comfortably. Either one will do what I need it to. Having said that, I find myself carrying the G30 most of the time. The trigger pull aside, cost would be a factor.
 
I've fired the PT145 and I was pleasantly suprised to see how well it fit my hands considering the double stack capacity and the fact I don't have large hands. It was very accurate for it's size and barrel length at 15yds with 230gr FMJ''s grouping at 4". The recoil was not all that bad but the trigger pull could be shorter.

The Taurus website shows the PT145 to be the same price as the 745. It does not show all the dimensions of the 745. They are both 6" long and the PT145 is 5 1/8" long and 1 1/4" wide. The 745 appears to be only 2.5 oz lighter that the 145.

Given the same price, I would think the PT145 with the 4 extra round capacity would be a better deal even if it's slightly larger.
 
The PT145 is based closely on the Glock 30, the PT745 is based off the Glock 36. Both are just a narrower single stack versions of each gun.
 
I've a PT111 9mm and PT145 .45 non-Pro Milleniums. Triggers are very much like a good DA revolver, tirgger on my PT145 is significantly better that on the PT111 (I got the 9mm first for cheap shooting and like it well enough to get the PT145 to carry when I know I'm going to have to leave my piece in the car at my destination).

Unless they've narrowed it significantly you can load 6 in the 10 round mag if the full load is too heavy. Mine is 1" thinck in the slide and 1.16" in the grip and ~21 oz empty with mag. Since the web sight says 20.8 oz. empty, I'm not sure I see the point. Maybe its lighter for a "Pro" Millenium as I recall I choose the non-Pro model since it was noticably lighter when I picked them up side by side.

Edit: My measurement is just the width of the grips right behind the mag release which of course sticks out a bit farther, as do the operating control levers for slide lock, safety, and takedown. So I'd not quibble at 1.25" as its specified thickness.

Unless the 745 is noticable thinner in the grips and the slide I see little point in it.
 
Go with the MilPro PT145 if only because 10 is better than 6.....

Actually the PT145 is very easy to conceal and control and I can't see a reason to go to 6 for just a slimmer grip. Also, the PT145 will accept Para Ord P14 mag's. A lot of fun at the range having 15 rounds in that little gun. It just keeps going and going and going.

Neat little pistol I had never heard of. Might be just the ticket for CCW when I don't want to lug around a full size 45. Are they reliable?

I'm at 1400+ rounds with no problems. Early on I had some light primer strikes but I traced that down to some old Winchester ammo - so I don't believe it was the gun's fault.

Same here, had 3 light stikes on Winchester whitebox within the first 300 rounds or so.
 
average performance from the 145

I've had low to average performance from the 145, shooting a variety of ammo. There have been some inconsistent light strikes, and failures to feed. All have been "Simply" resolved by either 2nd striking, or tap,rack bang, but it's unnerving nonetheless. I've detailed my efforts previously and won't go into detail here. I'm giving it one last chance with a batch of personal defense ammo to see if that makes a difference, but I'm not overwhelmingly optimistic. It's not at all a bad fitting gun, and it's certainly accurate enough given it's small size.

I'd say test thoroughly, and if you are able to get ~250 malfunction free rounds, you've probably got a good example.

I reluctantly sold my PT145 and picked up a PT745 2 weeks ago. It's slimmer, weights about 4-5oz less than the PT145, but it's just easier for me to conceal under a T-shirt and more comfortable.

I use the same FIST Kydex IWB clip-on holster that I used with the PT145.

I picked up the stainless PT745 model for under $300, including shipping. You can find my post on comparing it to the Kahr CW9 (P9) in an earlier post. I was thinking of getting the new Kahr P45, but why pay 2X the money, when the PT745 works just as well and is about the same size/weight :D
 
Which FIST holster model are you using? I looked around on their site and gunnersalley and didnt find anything under the weapon selection fitting the pro model, unless they just list it as PT145... and make no seperation of pro or non pro..... Id like to get one just to see how it fits... I have a highnoon holster on order. Currently just packing it in a cheap unclemikes size 16.... it does the job.
 
It was just the PT145 holster. The same holster works for the PT111 Mil Pro, non-Pro PT145, and the PT745 (I'm sure it will work for the PT140 as well).
 
The current issue of GunTests rates the PT-745 MilPro highly.

Again, my only concern is the 3.25" barrel. Gun tests chrono'd 230 ammo at 700 feet per second, mirroring what Gun Blast found in its test of the PT-145 with 230 ammo.

Clearly, ammo that was designed to travel 850 fps will not perform as well at 700 fps. So, alternative ammo must be considered.

But when you start looking at 185 gr ammo, the question becomes why not just get a .40S&W at 180 gr instead?

I keep hoping that Taurus will come out with the 9 mm equivalent of the single-stack Millennium Pro, PT745. I would buy one very quickly, since I am so pleased with my full-size 9 mm Pro.
