Model 36

Just purchased a used S&W model 36 with 2-inch brl and round but. Mint condition and doesn't appeared to have been fired (I'll fix that). Unfortunately no box with the gun. Pinned but not counterbored. Serial #6549**. Any idea when it was manufactured?

1968 would be my guess.

FYI: I don't think any S&W .38 Special revolvers had counterbored ("recessed") chambers.

ressesed cyl, you`ll find those only in mags

The cylinders are not recessed so that when you flip open the cylinder with a full load, and then spin it like Kono did on Hawaii Five-O, so that you cannot see the primers are already fired, you can see the shells and it will look cool.

Really, with .38 Specials, there is no need to cover the rear of the shell with metal.
