I recall Dick Metcalf & Guns & Ammo, or maybe Shooting Times ran a S&W Airweight torture test with +P back when it first came out in the 70's.
He used two brand new J-Frame S&W Airweights, and shot 2,500 rounds of +P through each of them.
Measurements were taken at the start of the test, and every 500 rounds to completion of the test.
The result?
Neither gun blew up.
Neither gun broke.
Both guns ended with no measurable wear in any dimension.
Both guns ended with lighter & smoother triggers.
Both guns ended with a higher average velocity.
Both guns ended with slightly better average group size.
