I have one of these lovely Remington Model 788 in a .222 caliber. I bought this rifle used about 12 years ago. I loved it, it could put 3 rounds of the cheapest stuff I could find touching each other @ 100 yards.
But I had to put the hobbie aside for about 10 years, so I had to put the rifle in my mom's basement, where the barrel began to rust without my knowledge. So last month I went and picked up my 2 rifles (the other is just a cheap old SKS) and I almost of died of shock. :banghead:
So I dropped it off at a local shop he is going to check the barrel and action. My questions are:
1. If the all is good but exterior blue what do I do? (Re-blue?, duracoat?)
2. If the barrel is no good? (get a new barrel, where, how much?)
I am assuming the action is fine... (I hope!)
Thanks for the insight!
