Background:

I need to replace the bolt head on my Tikka 91/30. It headspaces OK, but this gun is yet another that closes way, way too hard because of the extractor being seated poorly and digging into the case rim when you close the bolt.

I attempted to remove the extractor using a hammer and punches, a press, penetrating oil, heat, etc. There's only one way I'll get this extractor out, and that is to use a drillbit or a Dremel cutoff wheel to cut the extractor at the dovetail end to relieve the pressure.

Now normally I would just take the stupid thing out that way and replace it, but the bolt head on this gun is burred and marred more than any Mosin-Nagant bolt piece I've yet seen (and I have a ratty M28). The dents around the face of the rim and one big dent on a bolt lug (might be from a vise) look especially bad, and I doubt the series of dents and deformed metal at the base of the extractor are helping with the bolt smoothness. I wonder why the Finns chose this part, and I wonder who fought with it before me.

Question:

Are there any critical measurements I should take on this bolt head so I can specify exactly what I need for its replacement? If so, what do I need to measure?
